Jason Collins, the first openly gay, active players in major sports, is coming out on top in popularity poles, according to his jersey sales on the official NBA site. His number 98 Brooklyn Nets jersey is outselling LeBron, Dwyane Wade, and other star players, according to NBA Senior Vice President Vicky Picca. She added, "Jason Collins' return to the league represents a historic moment, and fans continue to show their support by (buying) Jason's jersey." Last week, Collins signed a 10-day contract with the Nets, and chose the symbolic number 98 to wear on his back in honor of Matthew Shepard, the gay University of Wyoming student beaten to death in 1998.  Source:  cnn.com

According to TMZ, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, dished out a nasty beatdown recently inside Bristol County Jail.  According to sources who spoke to TMZ, Hernandez was allowed to take a walk in what was supposed to be an isolated hallway, when he spotted another inmate who had allegedly been bad-mouthing him all day.  Hernandez then charged at the inmate and beat him up "pretty badly" according to the source. Hernandez is housed in an isolated unit due to his celebrity status in order to avoid incidents such as this one, however regardless of his celebrity status, it looks like Hernandez has no fear while behind bars.  He is currently incarcerated and facing murder charges for his June 26th, 2013 arrest for allegedly shooting and killing semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Apple issued a fix Tuesday for Mac computer users whose sensitive information could have been exposed to hackers. The software update patches a security hole in OS X, the operating system for Apple computers. It comes four days after the same bug was fixed for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches, which run on iOS software. The issue was first disclosed on Friday when Apple released the security patch for mobile devices. Security experts said there was no evidence hackers discovered the issue before Apple disclosed it, but Mac users were left potentially vulnerable since the public disclosure. Left unfixed, hackers could potentially read private communications sent over Apple devices, including emails, instant messages, social media posts and even online bank transactions. Those communications usually happen over secure channels. But an error in Apple's code could allow hackers on the same network as the user to view private information, security expert Dmitri Alperovitch told CNNMoney.

Davy Easterling, a security guard who had done work with Twista, was found shot to death and burned in a South Side Chicago home on Friday. The "Overnight Celebrity" rapper sent out a few messages in remembrance to his friend, "#RIP Davy Easterling aka 6'9 I have lost too many good friends to these streets." Twista had previously asked fans for any information surrounding Easterling, as he had been missing for three days, but officers later found him in the 8300 block of South Baker Avenue. Lil Wayne is one rapper who is publicly known for his skateboarding interests, however that doesn't mean that he's earned the recognition as a truly skilled skater by his professional skating peers.  When asked by TMZ which rapper has some serious skills on the board, skating legend Tony Hawk neglected to name Lil Wayne.  Instead, he went in another direction and highlighted Odd Future member Tyler, the Creator. "Honestly, the best skater that I've seen who raps is Tyler the Creator.  He really can skate ... He's legit." Insiders from Young Thug are throwing out rumors of the rapper's sexuality. According to AllHipHop, friends of the 'Danny Glover' rapper say that he's not gay, but part of a 'free thinking movement' in Atlanta. They also claim that he may act gay, but it's just the Atlanta way. Fans of the rapper have criticized his bold clothing choices and the way he interacts with male friends by calling them 'bae' and 'love.' Houston rapper Slim Thug was given a huge gift by his city yesterday (February 25) by making the date into a holiday called 'Slim Thug Day.' According to Revolt Tv, the holiday came about when Slim sat down with Don Lemon in January to discuss the themes behind the word "thug." Slim told Lemon that his name prevented him from possible sponsor ships because of the undertones that come with it and that his huge community service efforts will never get him a holiday because of his name. Shortly after the segment, Houston mayor Annise Parker began working on the holiday. As he celebrated with family and fans yesterday, the rapper gave a special message to children about never giving up on their dreams. The talk of penalizing NFL players for the racial slurs has been talked about for months, but head officials are ready to law down a fine for players using the n-word. According to ESPN, players would be penalized 15 yards if they say the slur on the field. The competition committee plans to meet this month to discuss the ban further before making any final calls. John Wooten, head of Fritz Pollard Alliance that stands over diversity in the NFL believes that the word should be 'policed everywhere.' "We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room," he said. "Secretaries, PR people, whoever, we want it eliminated completely and want it policed everywhere." Today at the  Mobile World Congress  wireless show in Barcelona, Samsung unveiled its latest flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy S5. Samsung mobile honcho J.K. Shin opened the presentation by saying his company asked customers what they most wanted in a phone. The answers boiled down to a desire for simplicity, nice design, fitness features, long battery life and a good camera. A very drunk driver who was willing to pay a substantial fortune to avoid a DUI arrest ended up making things way worse for himself after his bribery attempts failed. NYPD officers discovered 35-year-old Alcides Gonzabay passed out in his still-running 2013 Audi with an open bottle of Captain Morgan. Gonzabay was reportedly very upfront with the officers, admitting that he had taken cocaine before getting behind the wheel and that he had been drinking on the highway. "I was drinking tequila - a big bottle - around 12:30," he said. After blowing a .29 BAC, Gonzabay offered a massive bribe for his freedom, telling police, "I don't want my mother to see me in a cell. Yo, real talk, I'll give you $40,000." The man's attempt failed, but after being processed at Manhattan's 24th Precinct, Gonzabay once again tried to bribe police, this time with an even larger amount. LeBron James suffered a broken nose while playing against OKC Thunder when he drove to the basket with 5:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Miami Heat star was evaluated for a second time after the incident and it was determined that he would be sitting on the bench during Sunday (Feb. 23) night's game against the Bulls.  Missing their MVP, the Heat were able to overtake the Bulls 93-79, but fans were still confused as to why LeBron couldn't play with a broken nose. According to NewsOne, Atlanta minister Craig Lamar Davis, former pastor of Full Gospel Baptist Church, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years probation on Friday for knowingly exposing women in his congregation to HIV. Davis was found guilty in January of two counts of reckless HIV. The pastor, who was married at the time that the allegations surfaced, initially denied both his HIV status and cheating on his wife.  In a last-ditch plea for leniency during Friday's sentencing hearing, the pastor finally admitted that his actions were "wrong." Facebook user Nala Morrison posted an alarming video online over the weekend after her relationship with her boyfriend went astray. After moving from New Jersey to Missouri to live with her father, the straight A student says that her relationship with her boyfriend Marquis began to dwindle. Nala also explains her abusive past, and why she wanted to kill herself for the lack love she receives from her family. On top of her relationship issues, she says being dark skinned has damaged her self esteem. Towards the end of the video, she takes six bottles of her father's pills. With Nala announcing her boyfriend's number in the video, he found out about the attempt and her father managed to save her in the nick of time. Her boyfriend Marquis took to his page to announce that Nala survived the suicide attempt and is currently in the hospital. He says that they are still together and he 'loves her very much.' Vladtv

Rumors of a  Google-powered smartwatch  just got a little more tangible -- both  CNET  and the  Wall Street Journal  claim that the search firm is teaming up with LG to make the Android-based wristwear. We still don't know much about the hardware's capabilities, but  CNET  believes that Google would follow the Nexus model and create a reference device that would launch at  Google I/O  in June. The  WSJ  notes that other manufacturers could also join the fray. None of the companies involved have commented on the rumor so far, so you won't want to start budgeting for the gadget just yet. However, a Google-badged, LG-made smartwatch would make sense when the two companies have enjoyed success making phones like the  Nexus 5 , and LG is already designing wearables like the  Lifeband Touch .

We like the idea of hooking our watches into our phones, so when we wander around foreign lands, we don't look like as much of a tourist.  Garmin agrees, and has launched a navigation app specifically for  Sony's Xperia devices that'll push real-time directions straight to the  SmartWatch 2 . Acting like a premium sat-nav, the app offers offline maps, walking directions, real-time traffic and active lane guidance. It'll launch in March, and when you're done with the 30-day trial, it'll cost you $3 a month to get access to the full set of features. Oh, except for the SmartWatch spanning, which'll set you back a further, undisclosed amount, because  commerce .

According to TMZ, superstar Beyonce Knowles' father Mathew is behind on child support to the tune of 32,135.90, causing the mother of his young son to support the family using public assistance and food stamps. Knowles had an affair with actress Alexsandra Wright back in 2009 while still married to Beyonce and Solange's mother, Tina. The 18 month affair resulted in the birth of son Nixon, whom Knowles initially denied but was proven to be his son through DNA testing. According to documents obtained by TMZ, the courts mandated that Knowles dish out $12,000 a month in child support. Sources close to Wright allegedly told TMZ that she has had to pull Nixon out of private school and has resorted to receiving government assistance, getting $300 a month through the EBT program. Spreadtrum  certainly isn't a household name in the US, but Mozilla is less concerned with brand recognition than it is with delivering an ultra-cheap handset. The two companies have announced a new partnership that will see Spreadtrum building reference designs for  Firefox OS  phones with a target price of $25. (And no, we're not missing a zero there.) The heart of the effort is the SC6821, a Cortex A5-based chipset that supports WCDMA and EDGE networks, but  not LTE . The platform includes WiFi, Bluetooth, cameras and FM radio, though touchscreen support appears to top out at 3.5-inch HVGA panels. The lack of 4G connectivity, older CPU design and low screen resolutions clearly mark this as a low-end initiative, but its one that will give it a major leg up in emerging markets like India where feature phones still rule supreme. Aside from  Nicki Minaj being hit with criticism over her controversial use of an iconic Malcolm X image for the artwork for her new "Lookin A*s Ni**a" single , she's now being questioned as to whether or not she copied the concept of the song from a previous freestyle from her rival Lil Kim.  Kim released the freestyle which shares the same exact title as Nicki's, back in 2008.   On Kim's version, the phrase "Lookin A*s Ni**a" is the main punchline throughout her freestyle, which is the same format that Nicki has for her 2014 "Lookin A*s Ni**a" track.  In the past Nicki Minaj has been accused of copying from Lil Kim before, whether it be certain poses she does for magazines or other business moves.  Lil Kim has yet to call out Nicki for this. According to CBS Sports, Jason Collins has signed a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets, making him the first openly gay athlete in one of the four main professional American sports leagues. Collins, who last played for the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards will be donning the #98 Brooklyn Nets jersey tonight, as he and the team face the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center. The 7 foot center hasn't hit the court since last April with the Washington Wizards, before he revealed his sexuality to Sports Illustrated soon after. Many are wondering if this is a marketing ploy, as Collins has only averaged 3.6 ppg and 3.8 rpg throughout his 14-year career in the NBA. Brooklyn Nets General Manager Billy King denies this claim: "The decision to sign Jason was a basketball decision. The rumors about a sequel to  Space Jam with Lebron James have been floating around for months, but USA Today has finally confirmed fans suspicious.   According  to USA Today, Warner Bros. is looking to star the Miami Heat player in a screenplay following the 90's hit sequel. The original film grossed over $90 million during it's run, but gained a huge cult following over the years. Charles Ebersol, who has worked on the USA network will make his directorial debut with the film with James as the star. It hasn't been confirmed by James but spectators are already buzzing about who will star along James.  Other popular players like Roy Hibbert, Kevin Lowe and Anthony Davis  have been thrown into the conversation as co-stars in the film.  With Ebersol confiming the project on one hand, and reps for the NBA denying it, do you the sequel should be touched at all? We heard  rumors  that Sprint was going to take a cue from T-Mobile and launch its own WiFi calling service. Well, it looks like those earlier reports were spot-on: Sprint today announced WiFi calling for select Android phones, allowing customers to call and text over a local wireless network as a way of avoiding overage charges. The only catch: when we say "select Android phones" we really do mean select. For now, the service will only work on the Samsung Galaxy Mega  and the  Galaxy S4 Mini . If you're lucky enough to own one of those devices, you'll be able to use the service for free following an over-the-air update, which should arrive sometime in the coming weeks. (Note: domestic calls and texts are free, but there's still a fee for international calls.) And if you don't own one of those phones? There may be hope yet: Sprint says it will expand the service to additional devices throughout 2014.

Julie Corey, 39, has been sentenced to life in prison after killing her pregnant friend, ripping the baby from her womb and raising it as her own. According to USA Today, Corey was convicted of manslaughter in the first-degree for murdering Darlene Haynes. The murder happened in 2009, make the young child just 4 years old. She has been sent to live with her biological father. Haynes,23, was found in her apartment strangled with an electrical cord and her stomach ripped open. She was eight months pregnant. Mensa is an organization comprised of people with exceptionally high IQ's, and the Arizona chapter just welcomed its youngest member ever. Three-year-old Alexis Martin blew her parents away when she began reciting her bedtime stories verbatim at 18 months old. "We'd be driving around in the car and she'd recite her bedtime story from the night before," father Ian Martin told ABC News, adding: "She didn't just recite them, she recited them exactly." Over the next several months Alexis memorized every state capital and taught herself Spanish on her parents' iPad. That's when her parents decided to get her checked out. Doctors said the toddler's IQ was "off the scale" and they struggled to come up with a definite number. Eventually the settled on 160 -- a score that puts her in the top 2% worldwide. Nelson Frazier Jr., better known as Big Daddy V of the WWE, died Tuesday night after suffering a major heart attack. The WWE issued a statement confirming Frazier's death, saying, "Our deepest condolences go out to Frazier's family, friends and fans." Big Daddy V's friend and fellow pro wrestler MVP tweeted out his condolences after learning of his death. "I'm going to put one in the air for my fallen colleague Big Vis. Miley Cyrus' performances have brought about a lot of controversy over the past few months, and now parents are flooding in with calls to arenas to boycot her "Bangerz" tour. She recently kicked off the tour in Vancouver over Valentine's Day weekend, where she gyrated on a souped up car, wearing a pot-print leotard, and simulated oral sex on a Bill Clinton actor. According to TheFIX, "Her team, including management, record label execs and the entire tour staff including the director, costume department and choreographers — have been called for an emergency meeting as arenas across the U.S. threaten to pull out of the show." Forbes also reported that ticket sales have softened for her shows, stating, "By the time tickets actually went on sale for her 38-city Bangerz tour, 'Miley Cyrus' searches has dropped by 80%, to the same level it had been at over a year ago." Japan's Burger King chain has introduced a slight spin on the traditional cheese burger. The company has introduced two new burgers to their menus-an apple-pie burger with slices of apple, and a burger with apple and bacon called the NY Whopper. According to the Inquisitor, the sweet and meaty burger will also have cinnamon mayo in them. Fans have already expressed excitement to the new meals. No word on when it will crossover to the states. "Thicker than Water" star Brooklyn Tankard was recently stopped for a traffic violation in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Once police ran the reality star's ID it revealed she had multiple outstanding warrants—one of which was for "Failure to Cause Child to Attend School." Court documents reveal that Brooklyn's 10-year-old daughter, Diamond, had 16 unexcused absences from school and 35 unexcused tardies.
