Math explains why beating 'Tetris' is basically impossible

Image
YYou're never going to beat Tetris. Sorry. You might be asking why I'm so pessimistic and even though that's perfectly natural, PBS' Game/Show will back me up here. While the seven multicolored falling bricks (officially called "tetrominoes") all fit together pretty nicely, they only occupy a space that's eight tiles wide when fully combined. Coupled with the size of the playing space -- the "well," as it's called, is ten tiles wide -- there's always going to be room for screw-ups that are out of your control. There's a ton of math, studies of probability and statistics to explain it all, too. As host Jamin Warren tells it (citing a research paper from 1996), failure is due in no small part to how the "bag" randomly generates pieces that're dropping. Over a long enough game, the bag's going to screw you over and drop tetrominoes that make gaps that you won't be able to fill. Specifically, a nasty run of "S&

Netflix and Ellen are making a 'Green Eggs and Ham' TV show

Image
Hulu picked up Seinfeld, and now Netflix is working on a new show with Ellen DeGeneres -- but it's not a mid-90s sitcom at all. The two will create a 13-episode series based on the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham that's due to arrive in 2018, aimed at kids around the world. According to Deadline, the writer behind the project is Jared Stern, who wrote Wreck-It Ralph, and has been trying to make a show based on the book for years. Also, the report claims this is supposed to be the "most expensive" animated show ever created for television. Ellen seems excited about it in her video announcement (included after the break, but I think if there's a high-budget Game of Thrones-rivaling Dr. Seuss adaptation in the works, then The Butter Battle Book might have been a better choice. Play classic MS-DOS games without even leaving Twitter

Image
Although they went live at the very start of the year, it was like all of our Christmases had come at once when Archive.org added 2,400 playable MS-DOS games to its website. Retro titles like Maniac Mansion, Oregon Trail and Doom are all available, with the only downside being that you have to visit each specific game's page to play them. However, the eagle-eyed folk at Wired noticed these have recently started working on Twitter, meaning you can get all of your social networking done while simultaneously saving Sandy Pantz from the evil Dr Fred. Thanks to Twitter's Cards platform, all you have to do is tweet the URL of the game you want to play and it'll take care of the rest. You can even embed the tweet (and thus the game) inside a webpage, exactly like we've done below. Engadget

Nick Young Wins Bet for Sexual Favors From Girlfriend Iggy

Image
Yesterday, it was reported that Iggy Azalea and her basketball playing beau, Nick Young, intend to undergo a 12-step plan to ascertain if they are right for one another. Today, Nick may have expedited that process by sending out a message via his Instagram account which proclaims that he and Iggy made a bet for fellatio and Iggy lost the bet. Young boasted about his victory via his personal account and added the caption, ""I won the bet...she owes me." Soon after, the post was deleted from his page. Check out the slide for his actual post and pics of the seemingly happy couple. Will Iggy honor the bet or make him beg for it? Source: Uproxx

Lil B Allegedly Robbed of $10k by Hotel Staff in California

Image
Rapper Lil B the Based God is known to be quite the laid-back guy, but a couple of days ago he was sent over the edge when he found a large sum of money missing from his hotel room and no one admitted to the crime. As per usual, the rapper quoted himself on his Twitter account, citing that the Red Lion Hotel staff in Oakland, California stole $10,000 from the Based God's room and no one at the hotel is willing to accommodate him in tracking down the money. Lil B - who has a huge social media following - then took to his Instagram and posted a video of him questioning the hotel's manager, to which she stared at him blankly as he continued probing her about his stolen money. "NEWS : red lion hotel staff at oakland airport stole $10,000 dollars from Lil B room and refuses to help! Lets take this to corperate! No more hotel staff thiefs!," he wrote. John Legere denies claims that T-Mobile is throttling heavy data users on the Unlimited 4G LTE data plan

Image
A few days ago, multiple T-Mobile subscribers on the Unlimited 4G LTE plan started complaining on Reddit about what they perceived to be data throttling. When asked about the situation during yesterday's earnings call live stream, T-Mobile CEO John Legere denied such allegations, and promised to look into the problems that the respective customers seem to be facing. Over at the Reddit thread, heavy users complained that their data transfer speeds started to go down once they've racked in about 20GB in data traffic, which goes against the company's open claim that it does not limit data transfer speeds of its unlimited LTE subscribers. In a somewhat confusing development, alleged T-Mobile employees joined the Reddit thread and argued that while the network is not actually throttling data speeds in the way that speeds automatically go down once users get past a certain number of GBs, users get prioritized based on their traffic. These alleged employees claimed that, in high

AT&T President Fired After Sending Racist Meme

Image
On Tuesday, AT&T's President of Content and Ad Sales, Aaron Slator, was terminated over a racist meme he sent to a friend via text. While transferring data from Slator's old phone to a new one, his assistant discovered that he sent an incriminating text message to a friend with an attached meme that contained a dancing African child with the words, "It's Friday N****s." Slator's attached message included the phrase "Oldie but goodie." A former employee found out about the text and filed a $100 million racial discrimination suit against AT&T. The former employee's lawsuit claimed AT&T knew about the meme, but never took action against Slator. The telecommunications giant has since affirmed, "Aaron Slator has been terminated," adding "There is no place for demeaning behavior within AT&T and we regret the action was not taken earlier." Dark tattoos can throw off Apple Watch's heart rate sensor

Image
Here's one factor to take into account if you're still undecided about getting the Apple Watch: it doesn't seem to play well with tattoos. Several users revealed online that their devices act wonky when worn on a tattooed arm. The heart rate sensor wouldn't read their pulse, and the watch wouldn't detect direct contact with the skin, causing apps to stop working and repeatedly ask for the passcode. To confirm if inked skin really does affect the smartwatch's functions, iMore has decided to perform a series of tests. "[W]e're inclined to agree with those early reports," the publication writes, "if your tattoo happens to be a solid, darker color." Engadget

Jon Jones Stripped of Title & Suspended From UFC Indefinitely

Image
Jon Jones was recently arrested for a felonly hit and run in Alberquerque, New Mexico after slamming into a pregnant woman's car, breaking her arm on Sunday morning.  Now, UFC head honcho spoke to Fox Sports One about the situation, and revealed that Jones' light heavyweight title was being stripped. He's also being suspended indefinitely from the UFC organization indefinitely.  UFC followed up with a statement reading,"As a result of the charge and other violations of the Athlete Code of Conduct Policy, the organization believes it is best to allow Jones time to focus on his pending legal matters. While there is disappointment in the recent charges, the organization remains supportive of Jones as he works through the legal process." Amid all the drama surrounding the athlete, Jones took to Twitter to speak on the matter and apologize for upsetting fans, "Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I've let down." LG unveils the G4 with a super-bright camera and leather backs

Image
After weeks of quasi-leaks and actual leaks you might feel that you already know everything about the LG G4. The company's mobile chief Juno Cho clearly disagrees, however -- he just took the wraps off the new flagship phone at LG's big event in New York. The G4 is all about visual experiences, whether you're looking at it or taking photos. It centers around a 5.5-inch Quad HD quantum LCD (the first on a phone, LG brags) with higher brightness and contrast, but it's also focused on design, with an ever-so-slight curve and special backs that include ceramic and multiple shades of leather. Photography plays a greater role this time around. You're getting a larger, 16-megapixel sensor with an extra-bright f/1.8 aperture and second-generation optical image stabilization -- much better for low-light situations, LG says. On the front, you'll see an 8-megapixel camera with improved gesture control that lets you take multiple selfies in one go. There's also a manua

PayPal's simple One Touch payments reach the web

PayPal helped fast-track your online shopping when it rolled out One Touch payments on phones last year, and today it's bringing that simpler system to the web. As with mobile apps, you shouldn't have to sign in more than once to use your PayPal balance for purchases on any device with a browser -- it'll remember your details, so you only need to acknowledge that you're draining your account. You should see One Touch today at numerous web-based shops that already take PayPal, and it should reach other countries in the months ahead. Engadget

Murder, cat women and time travel hit PC in detective game 'D4'

Image
D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die is a wacky, weird and fairly wonderful point-and-click adventure originally released on Xbox One for Kinect. Fast-forward a few months and, now, it's heading to PC. Creator Hidetaka Suehiro, AKA "Swery," confirmed the PC port on Twitter and in Japanese magazine Famitsu. In the Xbox One version, D4 truly (and surprisingly) shines as a Kinect game, allowing players to control a hardened, time-traveling detective using arm gestures and voice controls. The PC version will feature standard mouse controls: "It's really good I think," Swery tweeted. There's no word on whether the PC version of D4 will be on Steam, but Swery has "noted" fan requests for a Steam launch. Engadget

(Video) “Rush Hour 4: Face/Off 2″ Starring Diddy And Byung-Hun Lee [Trailer]

When we noticed that there was a Rush Hour 4 coming out, with the star of the show being P. Diddy, it was sort of a lost for words type of thing. The entire billboard with Diddy and actor Byung-Hun Lee’s face on the front made us wonder what we were in store for, but now, we get it. I was real … real fake. It was real, but it was fake. Turns out, the whole ordeal was a Funny or Die thing. It was a real Funny or Die skit, but a fake trailer for Rush Hour 4: Face/Off 2; a combination of both upcoming sequels. Apple doesn't want you making Watch apps that only tell the time

Image
The Apple Watch may come with gobs of customizable watch faces out of the box, but that doesn't mean that you can install any face you like. Apple has updated its App Store developer guidelines to expressly forbid Watch apps that are primarily designed to tell the time -- it can be a feature, but shouldn't be the focus. You'll have to make do with the existing choices for now. However, there are signs that more watch faces are coming. Apple's help guide suggests that firmware updates could include additional built-in faces. Also, it's important to note that Apple hasn't launched its promised native app kit yet. It's too soon to say whether or not Apple will open the doors to third-party faces at some point down the road. It took a few months after launch for Android Wear to officially support additional faces, so it's not surprising that this kind of functionality is missing from Cupertino's wearable on day one. Your Apple Watch can help you tune a guitar

Image
The Apple Watch is handy for a lot of things, and now you can use the wearable when you tune your axe. Thanks to the folks at IK Multimedia, when you employ the company's UltraTuner app for iOS, note info is beamed to your wrist while tuning that stringed instrument. The software's Stage mode offers a full-screen interface for maximum visibility, and when this setting is selected, a smaller version of the chromatic tuner is displayed on the wearable. IK Multimedia claims that UltraTuner is ten times more accurate than mechanical strobe options -- down to +/- 1/100th of a cent. As you might expect, those figures make it the most accurate tuner available for iOS. If you've already splurged for the $5 app, you'll need to update to the most recent version to pair it with the Apple Watch. Engadget

Twitter has over 300 million users, but is still losing money

Image
In the fast-moving world of social media, Twitter can be considered something of an old-timer; after all, it just turned nine years old this past March. Yet, in many ways, it's still struggling to find itself. Twitter has just reported its first quarter earnings report -- which was incidentally published early due to an unintentional leak -- and while it shows respectable user growth numbers, the company is still very much under water. The social media firm now boasts 302 million users, which is up 18 percent from this time last year and is a good 14 million increase from the previous quarter. Revenue for Q1 was $436 million, which is a decent 74% increase year-over-year, but is still below the $440 million forecast. And yes, the company is still not profitable, recording a net loss of $162 million for the first three months of 2015. Twitter has been especially busy of late, as it constantly attempts to improve its core product with new features, trying out new avenues in video wi

Scottie Pippen's Daughter Arrested for Urinating in Hotel Lobby

Image
Sierra Pippen, daughter of basketball legend Scottie Pippen, was arrested on Sunday (April 26) morning for allegedly urinating in a hotel lobby. According to Iowa City Police records, Pippen "just walked in and peed at the front desk." She was later found in a walkway next to the hotel, and when she was approached by police Sierra reportedly accused them of being racist and refused a field sobriety test.  The staff at the Iowa hotel said they recognized Pippen from an incident on April 10th, where she allegedly got into an altercation with security. The accusations match up with online records that also show she had a blood alcohol content of .141 at the time. Source: The Smoking Gun

Muhammad Ali Responds to Floyd Mayweather: I Am the Greatest

Image
Last week Floyd "Money" Mayweather ruffled some feathers when he claimed that he is a better boxer than the great Muhammad Ali. "No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was better than me," Floyd stated in an interview with ESPN. "No one could ever brainwash me and tell me that. But one thing I will do, I'm going to take my hat off to them and respect those guys because those are the guys that paved the way for me to be where I'm at today." With legends like George Foreman siding with him and even Muhammad's own daughter Laila Ali admitting a few years back that Floyd is "more advanced," "The People's Champion" took to Twitter to remind the Pretty Boy that nobody has and nobody ever will touch him in the ring. New Details Emerge in Murder of Nicki Minaj Tour Crew Member

Back in February of this year, Pierce Boykins was arrested and charged with murder in the Feb. 18 stabbing death of Devon Pickett, a member of Nicki Minaj's tour crew.  Today, during Boykins' preliminary hearing, musician Marcus Kincy attested that a skirmish outside of Philadelphia's Che' Bar and Grill led to the fatal stabbing of Devon Pickett. Kincy recalled that after the bar closed his party moved outside after a fired employee caused a disturbance. Going on to recall that fateful situation, Kincy expressed that he discovered Pinkett lying unresponsive on the ground after the stabbing. Detroit man shot by federal agent died from multiple gunshots, autopsy finds

Image
An autopsy has revealed that a 20-year-old man who was shot to death in a Detroit home by a federal agent serving a warrant died from multiple gunshot wounds. Wayne County medical examiner's office spokesman Ryan Bridges said Tuesday that Terrance Kellom's death has been ruled a homicide. According to court records, Kellom was wanted on armed robbery and weapons charges. Members of the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team were allowed into the home on Evergreen Road shortly after 1 p.m. Monday. "I'm told there was no forced entry to the residence, that they were allowed inside. I'm also told that the agent may have been faced with a threat. It was at that point that he decided to use deadly force," Detroit Police Chief James Craig said. Kellom was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The agent, an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officer, has not yet been named or charged. “The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer involved with Mon

ZTE ZMAX returns to T-Mobile with warning to buyers not to hack the battery

Image
Earlier this month, we told you that T-Mobile had pulled the ZTE ZMAX from the carrier's retail stores, including its MetroPCS pre-paid division. It had nothing to do with poor sales, as some had thought. Apparently, some of T-Mobile's customers were taking advantage of the easy to remove "non-removable" battery cover on the handset, and were trying to remove the cell. A T-Mobile internal memo, which was disseminated today, confirms that a small number of ZMAX owners were trying to remove the 3400mAh battery from the handset. Because this action could have led to injuries, the carrier pulled the phone from its lineup. There was some thought that those trying to pull out the non-removable cell were used to conducting a battery pull on other models whenever they needed to reset their phone. T-Mobile reminded employees that the phone can now be sold and that sales and promotional materials related to the handset can now be returned to their prior locations. The  mobile

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent carrying out warrant in Detroit shoots, kills man

An 18-year-old man has been shot to death by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer at a home on Detroit's west side. Police Chief James Craig said a fugitive task force was serving an armed robbery and weapons charges warrant Monday afternoon at a home in the 9500 block of Evergreen Road when the shooting happened. Craig said the officer and other members of a fugitive task force were inside the home when, at some point, the officer felt threatened and shots were fire. "I'm told there was no forced entry to the residence, that they were allowed inside. I'm also told that the agent may have been faced with a threat. It was at that point that he decided to use deadly force," Craig said. Craig didn't say if the man who was killed had a weapon, but said he has spoken with the immediate family of the man who was shot and killed. "Just pray for us all. The family is really devastated. Lil Kim Asks Taraji P. Henson for Guest Role on 'Empire'

It seems as if The Queen Bee is ready to take on a new "Empire." In a recent interview with Grazia Magazine, the FOX hit's leading lady Taraji P. Henson says that Lil Kim contacted her about appearing on the show through Twitter. Taraji mentioned months ago that her captivating role as Cookie was inspired by the likes of Kim and others, so it would only be right to have one of Hip-Hop's biggest female emcees to grace our screens and show off her acting chops yet again. After receiving a DM from the "La Bella Mafia" ringleader inquiring about a guest role, Taraji says, "I was like, 'trust me girl I'm working on it. That would break the Internet.'"  If Lil Kim were to make an appearance on the second season, she would join the ranks of entertainers such as Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Apple quietly obstructing Jay Z's new Tidal music service?

Image
Jay Z's Tidal streamer might have just had a bad luck falling from 20th to 700th place on iTunes, or there might be something more sinister at play with the maligned launch of the hip-hop mogul's cloud music service. The demise of Tidal shortly after launch was chalked off to the numerous competing services, chief among these Spotify, that not even Jay Z's brand can fight. Tidal was launched as an alternative which will pay artists decent money for each play, not the pennies that Spotify throws at them. The announcement fanfare, however, with Jay Z, Beyonce, and other assorted millionaires, didn't leave the impression for starving artists, and when analysts examined Tidal, it turned out that the new service will distribute only slightly more of its revenue to the actual artists compared to Spotify. n any case, Jay Z defended Tidal, saying that "Tidal is doing just fine. We have over 770,000 subs. We have been in business less than one month," with the stateme

Deal: get the Samsung Galaxy Tab S for just $359.99 from eBay

A couple of weeks ago, Samsung temporarily shaved $100 off the Galaxy Tab S series, but if you failed to take advantage of that deal, there's a new one you should be aware of. The 10.5-inch Wi-Fi only version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S in Titanium Bronze flavor with 16GB of internal storage is now available for purchase from eBay at a price of $359.99. That's a better deal than what the manufacturer had to offer earlier in the month, as Samsung priced the same tablet at $399.99 for a short time period. Over at the official Samsung website, the tablet is currently priced at $499.99. The 10.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S is probably the large Android tablet with the most vibrant display, a feat that Samsung made possible by integrating a Super AMOLED display. The 10.5-inch panel runs a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels at a 16:10 aspect ratio. Under the hood beats the heart of an octa-core Exynos 5420 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. If the 16GB of integrated storage are not enou

Verizon brings back promotional data plans: 10GB for $80 and 15GB for $100

Image
Big Red indicated that it would begin ramping up its promotional efforts as spring yields to summer. To ring in Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Verizon is offering promotional pricing on its 10GB and 15GB More Everything shared data plans. $80 per-month will net 10GB of data, not including the per-line access charges for smartphones or tablets. $100 per-month offers up 15GB of data. Verizon is also offering 20GB of data for $140. These deals are essentially the same as what Verizon offered late last year. While summer promotions are also common, it cannot be overlooked that these offers emerged so quickly after the carrier’s subscriber losses, and so-so account additions thanks to tablets. Verizon’s CFO, Fran Shammo acknowledged that it was not likely the carrier would be able to keep overly-price-sensitive customers in its portfolio. Even at these promotional levels, Verizon’s prices do not really compete with T-Mobile’s or Sprint’s plans, albeit the feature sets are not the same. T

Nokia denies that it will resume making phones

Image
We hope you weren't counting on Nokia reviving its phone business. The Finnish firm is now bluntly denying claims that it's planning to return to making phones -- there are "no plans" to make or sell any, Nokia says. That's not surprising given both the company's expansion of its networking efforts and an agreement with Microsoft that it won't make phones until at least 2016. Simply speaking, Nokia wouldn't have the cash or permissions to build these devices in the near future. With that said, the company mentioned this fall that it was considering licensing its storied name to a third party handset maker. If you don't mind buying a Nokia-approved phone, there's still a chance (however small) that you'll get your wish. Engadget

Jay Z Takes to Twitter & Defends Tidal Against Critics

While Tidal may look like it's out of the running to streaming music competitors like Apple and Spotify, Jay Z informed his millions of Twitter followers that this isn't the case. The rapper led a "Stream of Consciousness" address on Sunday afternoon, informing fans that while Tidal's launch was rocky, the company is satisfied with it's subscriber growth and exclusive content. The rap mogul expressed that Tidal is once again a place where artists will be given fair compensation and distribution of their music. He also tweeted that while other companies have invested millions on smear campaigns, Tidal is sticking to their goal by being for the music listener. "We made Tidal for fans," he tweeted. "We have more than just music. We have video, exclusive concerts, tickets for events early, live sports! Indie artists who want to work directly w/ us keep 100% of their music. Dave Chappelle's Detroit Show Leaves Fans Demanding Refunds

Image
Depending on who you ask, Dave Chappelle's  show at The Fillmore in Detroit on Thursday evening ended in laughter and chaos, as the comedian was repeatedly heckled by the crowd. In a video sent to TMZ, fans claimed the comedian showed up late to his 9:30 p.m. show on Thursday night, causing fans to become uneasy. Once the comedian took the the stage, fans began to boo him as he interacted with some of the audience members and reportedly spoke in a slurred manner. Some fans claim the comedian stopped telling jokes and hundreds of people left the theater. The city's local news website, Click on Detroit, gave the comedian a glowing review and hinted Dave's trouble with the city goes back a few years when he was booed off the stage by a "tough" crowd. Fans are now demanding a refund for the show. Tickets ranged from $50 to over $200. A representative for The Fillmore says refunds will not be given because they are not subject to the artists' content on stage.

This is what the Apple Watch warranty will and will not cover

Image
The people from MacRumors claim to have gotten their hands on the official Visual Mechanical Inspection guide for Apple Watch service providers. With the Apple Watch launched this past Friday, an increasing portion of those who pre-ordered the device are now seeing their watch delivered to their door steps. If you're wondering what type of damage is covered by the one-year Apple Watch warranty, then this recent MacRumors report claims to provide the info you need right from the horse's mouth. The Apple Watch warranty apparently covers damage such as debris under the display window, abnormal pixels, or condensation in the heart rate monitor window. Furthermore, if somehow you get the back cover removed, Apple will place it back on for you free of charge, but only if there's no sign of internal damage or prying. Moving on to the type of damage that Apple will service outside of the warranty, the mechanical inspection guide lists about every sort of mechanical damage that y

Apple Watch owners are complaining about scratches on their new device.

Image
Some Apple Watch owners, still enthralled by the new watch smell coming from their latest tech purchase, do have a complaint to make. The stainless steel version of the timepiece is picking up scratches on its body way too easily. In some cases, the scratches are appearing within hours after the device is removed from its box. Those who purchased the entry-level Apple Watch Sport model aren't having the same problems thanks to the matte finish on the watch which tends to cover up any marks made to the aluminum. We should point out that this is not happening to every Apple Watch model being worn. Apple is offering Apple Care support for the product. The protection plan must be bought at the same time as the Apple Watch is. Keep Your Outfit Clean in The Newly Released Jordan 11Lab4

Image
The Air Jordan LAB series has been an experimental hit so far. We've seen a few of the shoe and material combinations and none have sat on shelves even after subsequent restocks. As we wait for more info on the 4LAB1, we are getting word that the next one up could be the Jordan 11LAB4. This would be an Air Jordan 4 with aesthetics borrowed from the Air Jordan 11. Patent leather and ballistic mesh would make up this shoe as far as we read, but no word yet on the translucent, icy outsole that has been one of the key features of the Air Jordan 11. Vladtv. com

Twista Among Artists to End Chicago Violence with New Program

Image
Twista has lent his life experiences in Chicago and more to a program dedicated to ending the city's troubling gun violence, Fox 32 has reported. The rapper joins his manager Rawle Stewart, in his new program, "Voice of the Streetz." The movement hopes to bring attention to the city's most dangerous areas with seminars and more led by the city's popular artists like Twista, Stunt Taylor and dancer D-Low. Since losing multiple friends to the gun violence including Uchenna Agina - the manager of Lil Durk who was killed in March - Stewart wants everyone to see how music can bring people together for a good cause. "Just this past year I've had three people that I've known, that's close to me, pass away due to violence," he said. "You know someone once told me music is God's way of talking to his people and I just think we need to figure a way to use the music and the people behind it to point us in the right direction." Shoezum Spends $50k on Nikes and Jordans at Foot Locker

Image
We've all stood in long lines to cop our freshest and favorite pairs of kicks one time or another. Some sneaker enthusiasts manage to stack a few of the same kicks, most expressly for different occasions and others for memorabilia purposes as well. The latter seems to be the reason for most, as eBay and sneaker events are the routes people utilize to delve out their treasured unworn kicks. But, surprisingly, when any sneaker-head can't beat a good bargain – one thing is evident – you can expect those individuals to cop by the boatloads. As is the case of YouTube's own and Shoezum's owner Jordan Geller. Taking full advantage of a 70 percent slash on Nikes and Jordans, Geller hit up a Foot Locker last weekend and shelled out $50,000 on approximately 1,000 pairs of kicks. Here's how all the madness ensued. Check it out here. Source: Shoezum

Comcast officially gives up on Time Warner Cable merger

Image
The rather unpopular, $45 billion merger attempt between Comcast and Time Warner Cable has been officially called off. In a very brief statement, Comcast CEO Brian L. Roberts said that he would have liked to pair the two companies together, but governmental pressure has killed the deal. The biggest objection to the deal was that the combination would control the majority of high-speed internet connections in the US, raising the ire of both the FCC and Justice Department. Unlike the failed AT&T - T-Mobile deal a few years back, it doesn't appear as if either party has to pay a severance fee to the other, which should make walking away a little easier. Update: In a statement, Attorney General Eric Holder said the decision is a victory for "providers of content and streaming services who work to bring innovative products to consumers across America and around the world." Check after the break for other statements from around the industry, including Time Warner Cable and
