Google Calendar won't send you text alerts after June 27th

Image
We hope you didn't lean too heavily on Google Calendar's text message alerts in order to keep your life organized. Google is warning that Calendar's SMS notifications will vanish for regular users (education, government and work are safe) after June 27th. The search firm argues that they're no longer needed in an era when smartphones give you a "richer, more reliable" heads-up. It's true that modern mobile devices render SMS a bit redundant. With that in mind, this isn't good news if you can't justify a smartphone on your budget, or prefer to keep most notifications off -- you may remain blissfully unaware of an event change until you reach a computer. Student Kills His Mother Over Fight About Bad Grades

Image
Youngsters killing their own biological parents of course isn’t new. So many incidents with this article’s headlining occurred n the past. The reason for the murder is completely unexplained. 22-year-old Tyler Blansit, called the ambulance on Friday afternoon. What do the people in the ambulance vehicle see when they arrive at Tyler’s residence? The scene showed Tyler’s own mother dead. The county sheriff stated that Tyler confessed that he killed his mother over and argument about bad grades. Tyler already had scratches on himself when the ambulance and police came. All this happened in the state of Alabama. Tyler’s father was away at work when the incident happened. Tyler is an only child and is currently being charged with murder and held in jail. This is completely shocking and sad to hear. This is a world in wich children murder their own parents. Hopefully Tyler gets his full punishment. This disgraceful crime is unacceptable. Condolences to the Blansit family. Stay tuned to f

Nicki Minaj Talks Sex: I'm a Pleaser, But I Demand That I Climax

Image
Nicki Minaj has always been open about her sexual preferences in her music, and the YMCMB emcee got even more candid about her what she likes between the sheets during an interview with Cosmopolitan.  When speaking about her requirements in the bedroom, Nicki revealed, "I demand that I climax. I think women should demand that. I have a friend who's never had an orgasm in her life. In her life! That hurts my heart. It's cuckoo to me. We always have orgasm interventions where we, like, show her how to do stuff. We'll straddle each other, saying, 'You gotta get on him like that and do it like this,'" and she added, "I'm a pleaser, but it's fifty-fifty." The "Anaconda" emcee also spoke about where she sees herself in the future, and there wasn't much talk about her rap career. Nicki told Cosmo, "Ten years from now, I will have two children, unless my husband wants three. I will be into my fitness a lot more, I will stop

15-Year-Old Teen Charged With Attempted Murder Over Jordans

Image
Sad news has come out of Jacksonville, Florida recently, now that a teenager has been charged with attempted murder after meeting up with a woman who planned on selling her Air Jordans. 15-year-old Antiono Maurice Boykin was certified as an adult by a judge after shooting at a car full of people during an attempt to sell sneakers gone wrong. Boykin - who met the 19-year-old female through Facebook - met up with her on February 22 on East Seventh Street. Accompanied by two friends, one of them told Boykin not to spend the money on the pair of Air Jordan 11 Retro "Legend Blue" (presumably the sneaker in question), to which he responded he'd "buy what" he wants. Moments later Boykin pulled out a handgun and told the woman "You just got bucked," pointing it at her and the two men who came with her. Her taillight was then shot at by Boykin as she sped from the scene. Boykin was later identified by the police as the shooting suspect through him and the wom

Lauren London Says 'ATL 2' Isn't Completely in the Works

Image
As the buzz around the sequel for ATL 2 quickly grows, the original film's lead actress doesn't want fans to get excited just yet. In an interview with the YBF, the actress says the idea for a sequel to the 2006 film is just that. While photos circulated of the original cast meeting with the film's director Chris Robinson earlier this year, London says the film is still up in the air. "It's not definitely in the works," she said. "I don't want to be the spokesperson for it. I don't want people take my word for it. So, no. Right now it is a concept and there's a lot of possibilities with that." Her statements are polar opposite of actor Jason Weaver who was ecstatic to announce the news for the sequel on Twitter back in March. "So... I can finally announce..! ATL 2 is officially going down. @troubleman31, @albeback ,@jackielong and ya boi outchea putting this sequel together, led by our director @mrrobotodirector AKA "The Gene

Chair Throwing Brawl Breaks Out at Lil Herb's Indiana Show

Image
Lil Herb's performance in at a popular bar in Gary, Indiana was cut short over the weekend when the rapper and his entourage got into an all-out brawl with some of the attendees. The fight broke out during Herb's show at Hustle & Joe's on Saturday evening. A man who goes by the name of "Shoota Montana" shot the footage, and he explained exclusively to VladTV how the fight began. Montana says Herb was in the middle of performing the fan favorite track "Rolling" when a member of the rapper's entourage started pouring liquor into the crowd. "The only reason why it happened, why the fight popped off was because one of Lil Herb's friends [started] throwing liquor on people," Montana said. "It wasn't cool. We were partying with them and one of his friends did that, another friend who was on stage with him swung at someone else [in the crowd] and that's when the fighting popped off." In the above footage, bottles were

Porn Performers Have To Wear Protective Goggles ?

Image
In 2012, Los Angeles County began requiring porn performers use condoms. But it turns out that might have only been the beginning of a porn crackdown. Now California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) has proposed a new serious of regulations for the porn industry to wear protective goggles. Technically, current health regulations require porn stars across California to use condoms, but critics say the rule is almost never enforced. New Hampshire and California are the only two states in the US to explicitly permit adult film production, although other states allow it. Los Angeles County’s condom law is credited with pushing porn business to other locations including South Florida and Las Vegas. In 2012, Los Angeles County passed a controversial law requiring condoms on porn sets. As a result, production in the county plummeted by more than 90 percent. See the video here

T-Mobile Microsoft Lumia 435 priced at just $50 at Walmart off-contract

Image
If you're a T-Mobile subscriber looking for a cheap Windows handset, Walmart might have exactly what you're looking for. The entry-level Microsoft Lumia 435 is now available for just $49.88, down from its usual retail price of $95. That money will get you a brand new Microsoft Lumia 435 that only works on T-Mobile, but you don't need to sign a contract to take advantage of the offer.  The Lumia 435 is an entry-level handset that features specs such as a 4-inch display with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of integrated storage space, and a microSD card slot that accepts cards of up to 128GB. In the camera department, the Lumia 435 comes with a 2MP primary camera and a VGA secondary shooter on the front. All of these components are powered by a 1560mAh removable battery. While camera performance is certainly not something to write home about, the Lumia 435 will get the job done if you&#

AT&T is now offering the LG G Watch R at just $99 through its online store

Image
The G Watch R, the first LG smartwatch with a round form factor, is now available for just $99 over at the AT&T online store. That's $200 off the usual retail price, and a good price overall given the quality of this Android Wear smartwatch. The LG G Watch R launched back in October 2014 at a debut price of $299, but since then, LG went ahead and launched yet another rounded smartwatch, the LG G Watch Urbane. Naturally, since a newer model is available, we expected the G Watch R to be offered through special promotions at discounted prices during this summer, but $99 is a better than deal than we've previously anticipated. The LG G Watch R comes with a 1.3-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 320 by 320 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of integrated storage space, and a 410mAh battery. Although the Motorola Moto 360 was the first smartwatch with a round form factor, the G Watch R was the first smartwatch to come with a fully rounded d

Apple offers a quick workaround for nasty iOS messaging bug

Image
We already know Apple is working on a fix for a recently discovered texting bug that can render your Messages app useless (and in some cases even reboot your phone), but now there's a faster solution for anyone affected. You just need to use Siri to read your unread messages and send a dictated reply, according to a support document Apple posted yesterday. After that, you'll be able to open the Messages app once again and delete the malicious thread. The messaging bug was originally uncovered by Reddit users, and it involves sending a note with a series of Unicode characters through any iPhone messaging app. Of course, this workaround is only a fix for people who already received one of the tainted messages -- you'll have to turn off notification previews for apps if you want to stay completely safe. It's unclear when Apple will deliver an update to solve the issue, but given how easy the bug is to exploit, we figure it's coming soon. Engadget

Chinx's Wife Responds to Woman Claiming to Be Pregnant by Him

Image
On Tuesday at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Jamaica, Queens, Far Rockaway rapper Chinx was laid to rest in his home borough. The 31-year old "Feelings" lyricist leaves behind a wife and children, and according to Bossip, a woman claims that she is pregnant by the slain Coke Boy. The gossip site reports that a source told them that Chinx had a fling with an unnamed 21-year old woman, and following their encounter the woman is now alleging that she may be carrying the late entertainer's child. Janelli Caceres-Pickens, Chinx's widow and mother of his children who married the late rapper in 2006, responded to the allegation via email, writing, "I don't give a damn about who he was possibly dealing with. Who claims to have a child or be pregnant (just for their 15 minutes of fame) or who claims they know me? ...The reality is no one has him now!" Source: Bossip

Lil Wayne's Tour Bus Shooter Was Once Young Thug's Road Manager

Image
Yesterday it came to light that Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, the man who shot at Lil Wayne's tour bus, did so in order "to gain street cred" and higher gang status. Now TMZ is reporting that Winfrey was once the road manager for none other than Young Thug, and a photo has even surfaced of the two partying together. Following the shooting which happened back in April, last Thursday (May 21) the Atlanta Police Department secured an arrest warrant for Winfrey, who has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal gang activity, terroristic threats, and aggravated assault.   Since the arrest, several Atlanta sources have confirmed to TMZ that Jimmy Carlton Winfrey has worked as Young Thug's road manager in the past, which becomes extremely poignant taken in light of the fact that Young Thug and Lil Wayne have been embroiled in a public feud stemming from Thugga wanting to release a mixtape entitled ''Tha Carter 6,' and he just recently revealed hi

Tyler, The Creator seemed to confirm the end of Odd Future on Twitter, Wednesday (May 27) night, as the collective hasn't put out a project or toured together for a while now. The message led to many disappointed fans online whom Earl Sweatshirt directly addressed in some messages of his own.  The younger Odd Future emcee said that he has "no sympathy for male virgins who're in their feelings about tyler pointing out and solidifying the obvious," and added another tidbit of advice to fans.  "TO ALL ODD FUTURE RUNOFF: SAVE YOURSELF YEARS OF EMBARRASSMENT AND STOP DRESSING LIKE AN EASTER BASKET, GO TALK TO SOME B*TCHES! Sign into Netflix straight from your Google account

Image
You've been able to sign into third-party websites with your Google credentials for years, but now the company is broadening out the places that info can take you. On its Developer Blog, the outfit is talking up its new Identity Platform, a suite of developer tools that let others build "frictionless" entry to name-brand sites. The biggest name on the list of early partners is Netflix, which will now let viewers keep watching on their Android devices without having to re-enter their subscription details. Essentially, this makes Google one part universal log-in, one part password manager, that can do the same for both websites and newly-downloaded Android apps. The aim of the exercise is to provide a seamless experience, and in another example, if you've browsed Orbitz on your phone, those same searches will instantly be available to you should you switch to the desktop (on Chrome, at least). Oh, and if neither of those names are exciting to you, just wait until Linke

Google wants you to buy Big Macs with your face

Image
Google may have been the first big tech company to push NFC payments, but it was Apple Pay that got the public excited about buying things with your smartphone. At a Google I/O session for Android Pay, the search giant announced that it was partnering with McDonalds and Papa John's Pizza to launch Hands Free, a payment system that looks suspiciously like the Pay with Square app (later called Square Wallet and discontinued). Customers walk in to a store and say, "I'd like to pay with Google," and the cashier will see a photo of the customer and their name on their point-of-sale system. The service is initially launching in San Francisco in the coming months and those interested can sign up for the beta here. Details about the geofencing payment service are sparse, but it should use cards stored in the upcoming Android Pay. Engadget

Pebble Time's regular pre-orders start on June 22nd

If you missed out on Pebble Time's crowdfunding campaign and won't get one of the early units shipping today, you now have a date to mark on your calendar: Pebble has revealed that it's going to start regular pre-orders for the color smartwatch on June 22nd. That'll leave you waiting quite a while before you can even buy the $199 wearable, but you'll at least get a more polished device for your trouble. Pebble is promising an update that lets iPhone users dictate replies to Gmail messages, so you'll have one less reason to pull your handset out of your pocket. Engadget

Oculus Rift and a VR-ready PC will cost $1,500, CEO says

Image
The Oculus Rift is prepared to melt your perceived reality in early 2016 -- if you have the proper PC. If not, a new, Rift-ready PC plus the headset itself should cost around $1,500, Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe said today at the Re/code conference. "We are looking at an all-in price, if you have to go out and actually need to buy a new computer and you're going to buy the Rift... at most you should be in that $1,500 range," he said (via Re/code). He didn't provide a standalone price for the Rift, but Oculus has already divulged its recommended PC specs and they're fairly hefty. Oculus Chief Architect Atman Binstock said earlier in May that these specs will apply to the lifespan of the Rift and that the price of such a powerful rig should drop over time. Iribe echoed that idea today, noting that he'd like to see the total price dip below $1,000. Previous Rift development kits -- that's just the headset, no PC -- have been priced around $350. Now we have two

Samsung bringing iPhone-like exposure setting to the Galaxy S6

Image
hen Apple introduced iOS 8, back in September, the new update brought a number of enhancements, among which a few camera app refurbishments. One of these was the quick manual control for exposure – tap the object you wish to focus on and you get a slider to the right of your marker box; slide up and down and voila – you control exposure Now, truth is that most, if not all, smartphones will give the user some kind of control over exposure. However, Apple's solution is extremely convenient and we'd say it definitely enriched user experience when using the camera. Well, if you are a Sammy user, you need not be jealous. Word is that the upcoming update, which should be based on Android 5.1, will be bringing a refresh of the camera app. You want to guess what feature we are about to see? Yup – manual exposure control. The information comes from SamMobile, which tends to often be on-point when it comes to Samsung rumors and early information. The snapshots show a manual control mu

Huawei Watch goes up for pre-order across several markets, priced upward of $387

Image
______ The Huawei Watch is now available to pre-order in parts of Europe, including the United Kingdom, as well as the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.  The smartwatch market is still ticking along, so to speak, despite the ever-present feeling that wrist-worn gadgets may be more of a passing fad than a real game-changer. The launch of the Apple Watch last month has helped to thrust the wearable debate further into the spotlight, and while Apple has managed to shift many more units of its wrist computer than the combined shipment of Android Wear devices throughout 2014, smartwatch skepticism remains the elephant in the room.  Many smartwatches, like the Moto 360, have sought to preserve the traditional timepiece in the Digital Age. But while Motorola's first effort may have caught the eye, it hasn't really offered enough to convince users they need a smartwatch. The Huawei Watch, which we've already had some alone time with, tries so hard to be a mature,

Bug in iOS can force your iPhone to crash when you receive a certain message

Image
W If the Messages app on your iPhone has been crashing, or your iPhone has been rebooting for no reason, you could be the victim of an iOS bug creating havoc with your handset. What sets this bug off is a line of text that is so specific that the odds of you receiving it in a message probably rivals the possibility that you will be struck by lightening this afternoon. In other words, anyone who is affected by this bug was targeted by the perpetrator. The bug is also limited to iPhone to iPhone communication, and crashes the device when it is on the lock screen. Until Apple sends out a fix, there are some workarounds. If you can get the person who sent you the message to send another one, it will cancel out the original missive. Another way around this mess is to have a message sent to yourself via Siri, the iOS Share Sheet or from a Mac. This is a bug that has presented itself before. Apple usually sends out a fix, all is well for a while, and then the problem returns. A number of af

New Motorola DROID to have unbreakable YOUM display?

Image
Earlier today we told you about a pair of new Motorola handsets that could be part of the DROID lineup that is exclusive to Verizon in the U.S. One model, code named the "Clark," is similar to last year's Motorola DROID Turbo with an expected 5.2-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution QHD screen and a 565 ppi pixel density. The Motorola "Kinzie" will apparently offer a smaller 4.6-inch display, but with a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution, it would have a 639ppi pixel density. If that sounds familiar, that panel was the one originally rumored to be employed on the Gionee Elife S8 before it turned out that the latter will employ a 6-inch glass. Some more information about the Kinzie has been published this afternoon. According to this report, the Kinzie screen will be a 5.43-inch QHD YOUM display. Motorola (and presumably Verizon) will market the device as having an unbreakable screen. The Motorola DROID line has always contained handsets built like a tank. If the screen can tru

Thousands Sign Petition to Nullify Iggy Azalea's Billboard Award

Image
Following Iggy's wins at this year's Billboard Music Awards, many people, including veteran Golden Era rapper Ice-T, have voiced their dismay at the Australian import winning big at the awards show. Recently, a petition has surfaced on Change.org demanding that Billboard retract the "Fancy" rapper's award for Top Rap Song on the grounds that "Fancy" was released a month before eligibility for the award began. At the time of this writing, the petition had garnered nearly 20,000 signatures. "Iggy Azalea's 2015 Billboard Award for Best Song has been proven invalid," reads the petition's statement. "The eligibility time period for nominations is March 10th, 2014 through March 2015. "Fancy" was released on February 17th, 2014, nearly a month before the eligibility starting. This is unfair to the other nominees in these category, especially to "Anaconda" by Nicki Minaj, who most likely would've won. Billboard di

Nintendo asks you to pay what you want for indie games

Image
Nintendo's been going through some serious growing pains on its path to the modern era of console gaming but with this latest step it's actually beating Microsoft and Sony to the punch for once. The Japanese gaming company is running a Humble Bundle. Not a Nintendo homegrown version of a Humble Bundle, but a real McCoy on Humble's website. Pretty crazy right? Especially considering these are all indies. Up for grabs are digital codes for games on the 3DS handheld and Wii U alike, including Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition for the latter and Whoah Dave! for the former. Those follow Humble's pay-what-you-want model (so long as it's at least $1), but if you drop more than the average donation you'll snag The Fall, OlliOlli and Moon Chronicles Episode 1. Should you feel even more generous, a donation of $10 or more adds Stealth Inc. 2 and SteamWorld Dig to the party. Now, if only Nintendo would jump on this whole mobile gaming fad it'd have its base

Meet the Gionee M5, the first Android Lollipop smartphone with two batteries inside

Image
Earlier this week, Gionee revealed that it would soon introduce the M5, a smartphone with not one, but two batteries - a rare sight to behold. Running Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Gionee M5 is a mid-range smartphone with a 5.5-inch 720p AMOLED display, a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of expandable storage space. The handset also has a 5 MP front-facing camera, and an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash. It measures 152 x 76 x 8.6 mm, and is pretty hefty, weighing 213 grams - but that's understandable, as two batteries can't be lightweight. Speaking of which, we sill don't know the batteries' capacities. While the M5 is the first Lollipop handset to include two batteries, it's not the world's first smartphone to achieve this. For example, the Innos D6000 (announced at MWC 2015) also has a couple of batteries inside, but this one runs Android KitKat. The Gionee M5 is certainly an interesting device. We'll let you know more about it when Gione

56 Shot and 12 Killed in Chicago Over Memorial Day Weekend

It is sad to report that at least 56 Chicago citizens were shot over Memorial Day Weekend, with 12 of them succumbing to their injuries. Three others were killed a short time later. As many shootings that took place over the course of the weekend, no one has been placed in custody for the crimes. Chicago Police spokesman Officer Thomas Sweeney reported that many of the victims were taken to different hospitals in serious or critical condition, and Chicago police are currently investigating every shooting. Young Thug's At it Again: I May Call My Next Mixtape "Carter V"

Image
Young Thug stirred up controversy earlier this year after initially naming his mixtape "Carter 6," but later changed the name to "Barter 6" due to a lawsuit. Now, the Atlanta emcee is saying that he might call his next project "Carter V," since there has been such a massive delay on Lil Wayne's highly anticipated album. During the recent interview with NDO Radio, Thug also explained his label situation and revealed that he's not signed to Cash Money. The "Lifestyle" rapper said that he's just good friends with Birdman, and added that he has an exclusive deal with Atlantic Records.  See the video here

LG and Huawei are reportedly making Google's Nexus phones this year

Image
If you were disappointed that your only choice for a new, official Google phone last year was the gargantuan Nexus 6, you'll be glad to hear that 2015 could be very different. Android Police sources have elaborated on previous rumors with word that both LG and Huawei are working on Nexus handsets this year. The LG device, nicknamed Angler, would have a 5.2-inch screen and might borrow the G4's six-core Snapdragon 808 processor -- effectively, it'd be a modernized Nexus 5. Huawei's phone, Bullhead, would pack a bigger 5.7-inch display and could step up to a Snapdragon 810 chip. Think of it as a not-so-ungainly Nexus 6. Some of the specs of both devices are up in the air, so it's not clear just how sophisticated they'll be. They should show up around the typical Nexus release window for October, however, which suggests that they'll both be poster children for Android M. Just don't expect a new tablet. AP's tipsters don't believe there's a revi

Here's how Apple's Force Touch might work on the next iPhone

Image
We've been hearing for months that Apple's upcoming iPhone models will be force-sensitive, just like the Apple Watch and its newer MacBook trackpads. Now we have an idea of how the company's "Force Touch" technology -- which enables pressure sensitivity and haptic feedback -- could work on future iPhones, courtesy of 9to5Mac. Sources say that it could be used to replace instances where you typically hold down your finger on the screen, for example, to highlight or paste text. Force Touch on iPhones will also resemble the way the technology is used on new MacBooks: You can press down on the display to drop new location pins in Apple Maps, or use pressure-sensitive scrolling in media players. Not surprisingly, 9to5Mac notes that Apple has built in support for iPhone Force Touch on iOS 9, and it's also working with developers to integrate it into their apps. The technology could also make its way into Apple's next round of iPads, based on references in iOS 9.
