Samsung's aggressive battery design led to the Galaxy Note 7 explosions

Image
According to a new report, Samsung's aggressive design for the battery employed by the  Galaxy Note 7  might have been the culprit behind the multiple explosions  that led the company to pull the phablet from the market . The way the cell was designed, a pair of polymer layers drenched in electrolytes was used to separate a positive layer made of lithium cobalt oxide, and a negative layer made of graphite. Should those two layers meet, the electrolytes would heat up causing an explosion. As the report points out, compressing the battery would force the positive and negative layers to squeeze together. Samsung itself said that it might have been too aggressive with the design. In addition, there is a normal amount of swelling that takes place. Some of it comes from the pressure on the battery created through pushing on the back cover (for example, by putting the phone in one's back pocket and then sitting on a chair).  In order to make the phone thin, the batteries were desig

Steve Kerr Is Not Shy About Admitting He Smoked Marijuana To Help With Back Problems

Image
The word “marijuana” in professional sports is so taboo that most people don’t want to even speak on it publicly. While there have been more players lately to speak out about it and the positive effects it can have on healing the body, it’s still treated like a serious drug by all pro leagues and even folks who know it’s not a big deal are hesitant to talk about it. Thankfully, Steve Kerr is not one of those people as he admitted using it recently and seems to be an advocate for its use. Kerr has been dealing with health issues for a couple years now, mainly with his back and severe migraine headaches. His issues caused him to miss just about the entire first half of last season and he admitted on an appearance on the “Warriors Inside Podcast” that he used marijuana a couple times to deal with the pain. “I guess maybe I can even get in some trouble for this, but I’ve actually tried it twice during the last year and a half, when I’ve been going through this chronic pain that I’ve been

Bronx Man Dies After Genitals Cut Off in Figh

A homeless escort chopped off the penis of a 68-year old man and left him to bleed out and die Saturday night, according to police sources.  Cops say a neighbor found the victim in a bathtub laying on his side on Sheridan Ave. in Claremont around 8:30 p.m. Near the scene, police arrested Jerry Pagan, 32, who is believed to be a prostitute and had sex with the victim in the past.  They believe Pagan chopped off the victim's penis during an argument over an unpaid debt. Pagan told detectives he cut the victim's genitals with scissors, but cops also found several knives out in the kitchen.  He also told cops that he wanted to "eat the penis," according to police sources. Police said Pagan faces one count of murder in the grisly slaying. Source:  nydailynews.com

The witness added that the shooter shot McKnight, stood over him and said, "I told you don't f*** with me."  He then fired again. “At approximately 2:43 p.m. today we received a call of a shooting that occurred here at Holmes and Behrman Highway,” Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said. “Our officers arrived on the scene and immediately began giving CPR to an individual who was shot, lying on the ground, with EMS and others assisting at this location."
