Boston Trades #1 Draft Pick Markelle Fultz‏ to 76ers

It is no secret that the Philadelphia 76ers have had their eyes set on one and done Washington Huskies star Markelle Fultz since learning that they would have one of the top three picks in the upcoming NBA Draft. The chances of them getting to land the All-American point guard became absolute on Sunday, June 18, when it was announced that they had traded up for the opportunity to control their own destiny by grabbing the #1 overall pick from the Boston Celtics.
In exchange for the swap, Boston, who now holds the #3 pick that belonged to Philly prior to the weekend, will get another first round pick in this year's draft. In addition, the Sixers will be giving the Celtics the 2018 first round pick they got from the Lakers via trade with Phoenix in 2015, under the condition that that pick lands in a top five spot come next years lottery. Should that first round selection be slated for a pick south of the fifth spot, then Philadelphia will instead ship it's 2019 first round pick to Boston.
The pending trade is expected to be finalized on Monday. News of their agreement comes one day after Fultz visited the Sixers for a workout and meet-and-greet with team officials. Once the deal is officially done the Sixers are certain to add Fultz to their roster of young talent that will pair him with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Robert Covington.
