50 Cent Says He'll Get Floyd Mayweather to Fight One More Time

Image
Last weekend, Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor in a boxing match by a TKO decision that pushed his record to 50-0. Because of that, Mayweather passed Rocky Marciano’s boxing record of 49-0, which is a feat in itself. However, Mayweather’s friend 50 Cent has one more fight he feels that the retired fighter should pursue in order to break the record of Mexican fighter Richard Lopez, whose professional record shows 51 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw. Via a now-deleted Instagram post, 50 said, "You see this s*** we got Rocky Marciano record with 50-0 now they show up with this Richard Lopez record,” 50 wrote on Wednesday (August 30). “I’m gonna get Floyd to fight again, but I’m gonna need time Smh we need 1 more. TBE #50centralbet.” Despite 50’s instigating, Mayweather has made it clear the fight with McGregor was his final one. Source: hiphopdx.com

The Moto X is finally back, and it brought Alexa with it

Image
It's been years since we got a Moto X, but Lenovo hasn't forgotten about Motorola's one-time flagship. As predicted by leaks, Motorola unveiled the fourth-generation model at IFA in Berlin, and it's... definitely not the Moto X you remember. For one, it's among the few smartphones out there with built-in support for Amazon's Alexa, and it's part of an even more exclusive club of devices that just let you speak to her the way you'd speak to an Echo. Motorola confirmed that it was working on Alexa-capable devices at this year's Mobile World Congress, but we're a little surprised Amazon's assistant first wound up here instead of, say, a fancy Moto Mod. The differences don't end there, either. Remember how you could use Moto Maker to turn earlier models into devices that were uniquely yours? Well, that's over — the X4 comes in any color you want, as long as it's black or bluish-gray. While not customizable, the X4's aluminum and

Amazon Being Sued for Allegedly Selling Defective Solar Eclipse Glasses

Image
Amazon has been hit with a proposed class-action lawsuit by a couple who claims defective eclipse glasses purchased through the online retailer damaged their eyes. The couple is seeking to include other customers who were similarly affected. Corey Payne and his fiancée, Kayla Harris, filed the lawsuit in federal court in South Carolina on Tuesday evening, saying they purchased a three-pack of eclipse glasses on Amazon in early August. They assumed the glasses would allow them to safely view the United States' first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in a century on Aug. 21. Later that day, however, Payne and Harris began to experience headaches and eye watering. They later developed vision impairment, including blurriness and distorted vision in the following days, according to their lawsuit. The couple said they did not look into the sky without wearing the glasses when they viewed the eclipse. Amazon, which sells items from various retailers, began to email customers starting

You can now buy a 400GB microSD card (if you can afford it)

Image
SanDisk has just introduced its newest microSD card and it's a 400GB one. Yep, no mistake it the numbers: this just happens to be the largest-capacity microSD card available on the market, and it comes at a hefty price, as you'd expect. The new 400GB SanDisk microSD card costs a whopping $250. Up until now, Samsung's 256GB microSD card was the biggest one available, and it is currently sold for around $150 on Amazon in the United States. In terms of transfer speeds, the new 400 gig SanDisk card can reach up to 100MB/s for file transfers and goes as SDXC UHS-I class of a card. It is rated as App Performance Class A1, a rating that signifies that the card can run apps as well. And usually this is phone makers number one concern with external cards: they are often slower than built-in memory. That is the number one reason why companies like Apple with its iPhones and Google with its Pixel phones does not include the option for an external microSD card. It could simply slow d

Cavs and Celtics Trade Back On After Cleveland Receives 2020 Draft Pick

Image
The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to complete the trade that will send Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics after Boston added a 2020 draft pick to the package. Initially, the blockbuster trade that saw all-star point guards swapping teams caught a snag after the Cavs had questions about Thomas' health following a mandated physical. The 2020 pick that Cavs get comes from the Heat after being sent to Boston in the Zoran Dragic salary dump in July 2015. Vladtv

Houston Best Buy Was Charging $42 for Bottles of Water, Chain Apologizes

Image
Best Buy issued an apology after one of its Houston stores was caught selling cases of water for ridiculously high prices. A photo showed 12 packs of SmartWater advertised for $29.98 each, while a 24 pack of Dasani was going for $42.96. Immediately after the photo appeared online, social media accused Best Buy of taking advantage of the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. Many people are currently struggling to find food, shelter, and water. Best Buy had this to say, "This was a big mistake on the part of a few employees at one store on Friday. As a company we are focused on helping, not hurting affected people. We're sorry and it won't happen again. Not as an excuse but as an explanation, we don't typically sell cases of water. The mistake was made when employees priced a case of water using the single-bottle price for each bottle in the case." Source: complex.com

Derrick Rose Says Knicks Last Season Was Craziest, Most Confusing on Court

Image
Point guard Derrick Rose only spent one season with the New York Knicks before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, Rose has spoken on his time with the Knicks, saying it was both “crazy and confusing.” According to the Associated Press, Rose said, “On the court was when it was the craziest to me. Some of the strategies and all that, I didn’t understand. It was confusing. It was just a learning experience.” Previously, Rose was very critical of the triangle offense that was pushed by former team president Phil Jackson. The point guard’s older brother Reggie Rose spoke on his younger brother’s mind state throughout his last few years in the league, saying, “I’m not going to lie to you; the last two or three years, Derrick has been through a lot mentally,” said Rose's older brother, Reggie. “When you’re losing more than you’re winning, it can get difficult. So with him going to be in a winning environment again now, able to see how LeBron (James) prepares himself, the thing

Milwaukee Bucks Ready to Trade for Kyrie Irving if Celtics Deal Falls Apart

Image
2017 has been a chaotic NBA off-season, with the major free-agent acquisitions and blockbuster trades. Headlining it all was Kyrie Irving being shipped to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, two additional players, and a draft pick. Kyrie was packed and ready to leave Cleveland, but just when it seemed the deal was finalized, questions about Thomas' health sidetracked the trade. Looking to capitalize, the Milwaukee Bucks have put forth a trade including reigning rookie of the year Malcolm Brogdon and forward Khris Middleton and could potentially include future first round draft picks as well. The offer put forth by the Bucks is not nearly as good as the Celtics' offer, but it may serve as the next best option. Stay tuned for updates. Source: complex.com

T.I. Blasts Joel Osteen for Not Initially Opening Church to Hurricane Victims

Image
Not even a day ago, Pastor Joel Osteen was under fire for not opening up his church doors to those that were affected by Hurricane Harvey. He used the excuse the church was flooded but many didn't quite believe what Osteen was saying. Now, finally, Osteen has opened up the doors to those that need shelter. "Victoria and I care deeply about our fellow Houstonians. Lakewood's doors are open and we are receiving anyone who needs shelter," Osteen tweeted on Tuesday. But this offer seemed a little too late for some including T.I. The rapper took to Instagram to say exactly how he was feeling about the situation and he didn't hold back: "This is why people (like me) don't trust the mega churches. Conor McGregor Medically Suspended for Two Months After TKO

Image
Conor McGregor accomplished an impressive feat last weekend and went almost 10 rounds against Floyd Mayweather before losing by TKO. His remarkable appetite for punishment has its consequences, however, as the Irish brawler was issued a two-month medical suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission on Tuesday. McGregor has been suspended from competition until Oct. 26 and is barred from "contact" until Oct. 11. A medical suspension is reportedly standard regulatory practice in combat sports and shouldn't affect his next fight. The mixed martial artist received praise for his boxing debut, winning the first round of the bout according to all three judges and landing a total of 111 punches, reports ESPN. Showtime to Offer Refunds for PPV Glitches During Mayweather Fight

Image
Showtime is taking action to satisfy angry customers whose viewing experience was interrupted during the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor fight. The network's VP of communications, Chris DeBlasio, claims that a "very limited" number of complaints on the issue has been received and that they are each being reviewed in order to determine who will get their $99.99 back. Executives believe that a good number of viewers who placed their orders last minute may have contributed to the 10 to 20-minute delays that hindered the experience for some. Only those who are direct-to-customer purchasers of the fight will be taken into consideration for a refund. Those who saw the event through a third party site will have to reach out to their respective providers. One such provider that is said to have been plagued by delays was UFC's Fight Pass. UFC says that it is in communication with its vendor, NewLion, to establish what went wrong, and that the company will be reviewing

Amazon offering Music Unlimited at 50% off to students, Prime Students only pay $1 per month

Image
Amazon's Music Unlimited is getting a lot cheaper... for university students, that is. The e-commerce site is slashing 50% off its subscription fee for the music streaming service, provided that you can verify your enrollment in a degree-granting college or university. This means that eligible users will only have to pay $4.99 per month, down from the usual rate of $9.99. Students that are on Amazon Prime can get it for even cheaper - $6 for 6 months, much less than the regular Prime rate of $7.99 per month. Such a move is hardly surprising, as Music Unlimited's chief competitors Apple Music and Spotify also offer similar deals. Spotify has been enticing students with $5 monthly rates since April, while Apple has been doing it since May 2016. In any case, it's good to hear that audiophiles going through college are now spoiled for choice. AMAZON'S CHECK OUT OFFER HERE

Derrick Rose to Critics: The Only Thing That You Can Say Is That I Can Still Play

Image
Derrick Rose is getting a second chance...or a fifth. The once dynamic and explosive point guard has gone from NBA MVP and franchise centerpiece to a backup many have lost faith in, but the Chicago native wants everyone to know that he can still ball. Rose made $21 million last season averaging 18 PPG for the lowly New York Knicks, but he will make just $2 million after signing for the league minimum with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Eastern Conference champs, however, give Rose the chance to start anew and resume chasing what would be his first NBA title. In an interview with The Associated Press, Rose discussed his low points, dealing with numerous injuries and a civil trial over a rape allegation of which he was eventually cleared. In all, it's fueled him, and he's been working extra hard to get ready for this upcoming season. It's unclear whether Rose will be playing behind Kyrie Irving or Isaiah Thomas; he just knows that he'll be ready to prove himself. He know

Lamar Odom: Getting Traded from the Lakers Ended My Career and Purpose

Image
Lamar Odom was living his best life with the Los Angeles Lakers. He had friends, family, stability, and was an integral part of the team's 2009 and 2010 championship wins. His life, however, was upended when the Lakers traded him to the Dallas Mavericks, he disclosed in an interview with Shams Charania for The Vertical. “That trade from the Lakers basically ended my career and purpose,” Odom told The Vertical. “I was never really myself ever again. Being in L.A., the structure, the people I knew, it hurt leaving. I had great memories with the Lakers, with Kobe and Pau. That was a special time in my life. “I got traded the season after we lost to Dallas in the playoffs, and I had won Sixth Man of the Year for the team. To trade me after winning Sixth Man of the Year…what else do I got to do? Why? “I think about it all the time, about how much I had left in the tank. I had issues going on. But barring injury, could I play in the NBA today? I could play. I should still be playing.”

Lions QB Matthew Stafford Lands Biggest Deal in NFL History, 5 Yr $135M

Image
Matthew Stafford became the NFL's highest paid player after agreeing to a five-year extension with the Lions that will pay him $27 million per year on average, or, $135 million over the life of his contract. It is predicted that the quarterback market will be bursting with record signings with Drew Brees and Kurt Cousins' contracts expiring after this season. Stafford and Carr's names were bound for free agency in 2018 as well, but both Detroit and Oakland forewent using the franchise tag on their young slingers and figured to pay up before likely having to offer up even bigger deals in the competitive off season to come. Prior to Stafford's $135 million tag, Carr held the record thanks to a $125 million deal he signed in June. While Stafford has long faced questions about his ability to lead a team into the post season, having yet made any post season noise, his numbers are solid without a doubt. The 29-year-old holds franchise records for completions (2,634), passin

Thug took to Twitter to question if anyone was going to tell him about the award: "So no one was going to tell me that I won an award?" But mor

The Shreveport Police Department was on the hunt for Mystikal, along with a man named Averweone Holman, who cops believed was a part of the crime as well. Trump's Travel and Family is Causing Secret Service to Run Out of Money

Image
Donald Trump and his persistence to not stay in the White House is coming to an end, as the Secret Service announced that they can no longer foot the bill for agents to continue on with their expanded protective mission. The amount of people that the Secret Service has to protect under the Trump administration is simply too large according to Secret Service Director Randolph Alles. Alles spoke to USA Today and told them that over 1,000 agents went over the salary caps and overtime allowances that were meant to play out for the entire year. Alles said “The president has a large family, and our responsibility is required in law. I can’t change that. I have no flexibility.” According to the Secret Service, 42 people have protection under the current administration, which includes 18 members of his family. To contrast, President Obama only had 31 people under protection during his time in office. Agents currently on assignment in Trump administration must protect the president, who appare

Replacing a screen can get your phone hacked

Image
If you're a long-time smartphone user, there's a pretty good chance that you've experienced the "pleasures" of getting a cracked touchscreen. It happens to the best of us - after all, phone displays are made out of glass, a material that tends to shatter when dropped, even if it carries the "Gorilla" branding. After such an incident occurs, some learn to peacefully coexist with the spider web pattern on their display (if it remains functional), others just go out and buy a new handset, while quite a few people also choose to stop by a repair shop and get a replacement screen installed. Going for this third option might seem as a sensible thing to do, but it turns out that it might completely compromise the security of your phone. In a recently-published paper, Israeli researchers from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev highlighted the threat of malicious peripheral existing inside consumer electronics. The team was able to booby-trap a third-party

Judge Allows DMX to Travel But Only with a "Sober Coach"

Image
Recently, DMX was charged with 14 counts of tax evasion. If convicted, the rapper could get up to 44 years in prison. Since then, the rapper tried to leave the court’s jurisdiction without permission. Along with that, he was drug tested and tested positive for narcotics in his system. Following that, DMX’s lawyer asked a judge via a letter for permission to temporarily be off of house arrest to perform at shows in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and Atlanta. DMX’s probation officer did not think the request was smart, but the judge granted the request for the rapper. According to the judge, DMX has to be accompanied by a sober coach 24 hours a day while he is on tour to ensure that he stays away from drugs. Along with having a “coach” with him all day, DMX must pay for the coach with his own money. The rapper’s lawyer said “We’re ecstatic about the court’s decision giving Mr. Simmons the opportunity to perform and continue his career.” Source: xxlmag.com

Error allows consumers to grab the Amazon Echo Dot for free; Amazon cancels the orders

Image
You might have thought that Lady Luck was on your side on Friday when consumers had a brief window of opportunity on Amazon's web site allowing them to order the Amazon Echo Dot for free. This is the version of the Echo that resembles an overgrown hockey puck. Normally priced at $49.99, a "technical error" took the price down to $0 for a very short period of time. That was followed up with a note stating that the product was out of stock on the Amazon site before the Echo Dot returned online at its regular price. The so-called "technical error" had to do with a promotion for audiobook service Audible that was accidentally applied to the Echo Dot. Amazon owns Audible, so it is possible that some cross-promotion between the Amazon Echo Dot and Audible is being prepped. Does that mean that the lucky ones who managed to snag an Echo Dot for free will get to keep the smart speaker that they "purchased?" In a word, the answer is no. Now we do have to tell

Russell Westbrook Voted Players Association MVP

Image
As the NBA season was nearing its end the one name running neck and neck with Russell Westbrook as the favorite for the league's Most Valuable Player award was James Harden. Most sports writers gravitated towards Westbrook, despite Harden's phenomenal run, as did most players, but there were quite a few notables who shockingly voiced their liking for Harden to win it in 2017, as did 2016 MVP Steph Curry. To Westbrook's good fortune, those haters proved to be the minority this week. On Friday, August 18, the NBA announced the winners of its third annual Players Voice Awards. What set's the PVA's apart from the official performance awards is that writers and fans don't get to vote. The Players Voice Awards are completely determined by input provided by the nominees' peers of the NBPA [National Basketball Players Association]. Westbrook's 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists proved to be enough to win him the highest honor on the ballot. His fellow
