Apple Reportedly Set to Unveil the Latest iPhone on September 12

As the summer winds down with the holiday season appearing on the horizon, Apple is set to announce its yearly offerings in this year's iPhone event. According to Variety, Apple is planning on introducing a number of new iPhones for every price-point while also revealing some other upgraded products like the Apple Watch. One of the iPhone models Apple is introducing includes a 6.5" screen on the newly loaded iPhone X2. A select few are getting the opportunity to attend the unveiling. The event will be hosted in Cupertino, CA on the company's campus. The invitation featured a golden circle with the words "gather round" which are leading some to believe that this could be a hint toward more wireless charging or other wireless features. NC Women Arrested After Video Shows Them Letting Small Kids Smoke Weed

Two North Carolina women were arrested after a Snapchat video showed them giving blunts to three young kids to smoke on. Michaela Pearson, 21, and Candice Little, 18, were arrested by Winston-Salem Police and held on charges of child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of minors. The children, aged 18 months, 2 and 3, were admitted to a local hospital and remain there for observation. See video here

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Signs $134M Contract Extension, Could Make $180M

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has signed a contract extension for $134 million and is reported to potentially be worth $180 million. The deal ends in 2023 when Rodgers will be 40-years-old. The contract extension gives Rodgers over $100 million in total guarantees while he will have a considerable amount of cash flow throughout the rest of the 2018 calendar year and early 2019. Rodgers is slated to receive $67 million by year's end and eyes $13 million coming in during the month of March. Also, throughout the life of the contract, Rodgers has incentives set in place that could raise the total earnings over the course of the contract to $180 million. Martinez joined the Raiders in the offseason as part of the strength and conditioning staff. Mass Shooting Takes Place at Madden NFL Live Stream Tournament in Florida

A video that surfaced from a Madden NFL Live Stream Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida shows the situation going pretty terrible as a mass shooting took place while players were actively gaming. The Jacksonville sheriff’s office immediately took to Twitter to say “Mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing. Stay far away from the area. The area is not safe at this time. STAY AWAY #TheLandingMassShooting.” In the video, two gamers can be seen playing out their match in Madden but were distracted by what appeared to be a loud noise. The noises kept happening, and their live stream screen went blank because the shooter kept continuing to fire. So far, CNN has reported that four people are dead and that 11 have been shot. According to a report, Bill Cosby is reportedly using bitcoin to keep everyone from touching his $500 million fortune, including his wife and the government. The news surfaced via RadarOnline, with an alleged inside source in the Cosby camp saying “He moved close to $5 million in Bitcoin after an expert told him it’s practically untraceable and impossible for anyone but him to retrieve.” Another source from the camp said that Bill Cosby allegedly has “no intention” on paying his legal fees as well. This comes after it was reported that Bill Cosby racked up $25 million in unpaid legal bills after losing one of the cases against him.  Jemele Hill to Leave ESPN in September With Buyout

ESPN personality Jemele Hill will reportedly leave the network at the beginning of September, according to noted author and media reporter James Miller. Hill first joined ESPN in 2006 and has worked in a variety of roles for the network since. ESPN suspended Hill for two weeks in October 2017, after her series of tweets calling for an advertiser boycott of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Her tweets came after Jones said his players would be benched if they did not stand for the national anthem. In January, Hill left SC6, the 6 p.m. edition of Sportscenter, to move to the Undefeated, ESPN's microsite that combines sports, culture and race, as well as other assignments. The report on Hill's departure comes one day after ESPN announced that host Michelle Beadle was leaving the show Get Up! but would stay with the network. It was reported that Serena Williams would no longer be able to wear her black Nike cat suit at the French Open. According to the French Tennis Federation president—Bernard Giudicelli, the tournament is pushing a new dress code to regulate the uniforms of players. He said “I think that sometimes we’ve gone too far.” Giudicelli commented on Williams black cat suit a bit more, saying “It will no longer be accepted. Prince's Family Sues Doctor, Blames Him for Fatal Overdose

According to TMZ, Prince's family has filed a lawsuit against the late musician's doctor, blaming him for the fatal overdose. The family claims that Prince was not prescribed the proper dosage by Dr. Michael Schulenberg back on April 20, 2016, just a day before the overdose. The family has already filed a lawsuit against the treating hospital and Walgreens for distributing the drugs to Prince. As it was reported, Prince's toxicology report showed that his body contained "exceedingly high" of fentanyl. Despite the lawsuits, no criminal charges have been filed. Source: tmz.com

Hospital Security Guard Arrested After Being Caught Having Sex With Corpse

A 23-year-old hospital security guard in Tennessee was arrested after he reportedly caught having sex with a woman’s corpse. Cameron Wright was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse after two people allegedly saw him having sex with the corpse in question at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Wright’s sister spoke to the news about her brother and the incident, saying “I think he’s still a good person, he just needs help. I mean, because anybody that does something like that, there’s got to be something wrong with them." St. Francis Hospital issued a statement on the bizarre incident, saying “Treating those we serve with dignity and respect is our top priority. The behavior of this individual does not represent what our hospital stands for, and these actions are completely unacceptable. Robin Leach, who rose to fame as the host of the popular TV show Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, passed away on Friday (August 24) morning in Las Vegas. Leach, 76, suffered a stroke in Cabo San Lucas in November and has been hospitalized since. His colleague John Katsilometes revealed that the famed host had suffered another stroke on Monday. Leach's family released a statement that read, "Despite the past 10 months, what a beautiful life he had. Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend Robin Leach passed away peacefully last night. Everyone’s support and love over the past, almost one year, has been incredible and we are so grateful. Memorial arrangements to follow. With love, Steven, Gregg and Rick Leach." Story developing. Former New England Patriot and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez committed suicide while in prison and many of the dark tales associated with the football standout are surfacing. His former lawyer, Jose Baez, is releasing a book about his time with Hernandez leading up to his murder convictions. In Unnecessary Roughness: Inside the Trial and Final Days of Aaron Hernandez, Baez details when Hernandez sold his jersey number to Chad Ochocinco for $50K. Baez said that Hernandez then took that money to "float" as an investment in a drug deal. According to Baez, Aaron made $70K in profit off that initial $50K investment. “Aaron figured Ocho Cinco [sic] might want to wear number 85 with the Patriots so he approached Ocho Cinco [sic] and offered to sell him the number for $75,000, [...] Mr. Cinco balked at the price and countered with $50,000. CA Approves of Bill That Can Reduce Thousands of Marijuana Convictions

California lawmakers approved a bill that would require prosecutors to erase or reduce the convictions of tens of thousands marijuana-related crimes. This bill addresses the need for a mechanism by which prosecutors can assess the eligibility of those looking to get crimes erased or felonies reduced to misdemeanors. At the moment, the Department of Justice estimates that 220,000 cases are eligible for erasure or reduction. The DOJ has until July 1, 2019, to compile a comprehensive list of cases they want to be forwarded to the proper district attorneys. The prosecutors then have a calendar year to challenge any of the cases. Republicans and Democrats in California alike see the benefits of this bill. Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener of San Francisco said the bill "creates a simpler pathway for Californians to turn the page." Republican State Sen. Nets Forward Kenneth Faried Arrested for Criminal Possession of Weed

Brooklyn Nets forward Kenneth Faried was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession in New York over the weekend according to USA Today Sports. Southampton Town Police Department told reporters that Faried was the passenger in a Cadillac Escalade that was flagged while driving through a DWI checkpoint after authorities smelled "a strong odor of marijuana" emanating from the SUV. Faried was found in possession of over two ounces of marijuana and subsequently arrested for fourth-degree criminal possession. Faried was later released on $500 bail. The Brooklyn Nets issued a brief statement on Wednesday, stating in part, "(we) are in the process of gathering more information at this time." Source: 9news.com

TMZ got their hands on the photo behind the scandal between actress Asia Argento and her former co-star Jimmy Bennett. The photo is reportedly from 2013, which shows a then 17-year-old lying shirtless in bed with Argento with their arms entangled. Sources say the photo was taken after the two had sex at a hotel. TMZ also got text messages between Argento and a friend, where she states, "it wasn't raped (sic) but I was frozen. He was on top of me. After, he told me I had been his sexual fantasy since was 12." According to The Blast, Da Brat has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after falling $7 million in debt. She reportedly has $108,700.65 in assets and her liabilities total $7,782,249.57. Included in her liabilities is a $6.4 million judgment to former cheerleader Shayla Stevens, who Da Brat hit in the face with a bottle in a nightclub in 2000. In addition, Da Brat owes $1,255,128 to Sony Music and $12,000 to Ally Bank. She also listed $2,284 in credit card debt, $2,284 owed to the Georgia Department of Revenue, and an unknown amount to the IRS. She has reportedly made $75,000 so far this year, $106,000 in 2017 and $92,000 in 2016. The RIAA recently dropped news that Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ is no longer the biggest selling album in the history of the United States. The Eagles, known for their song “Hotel California” have reportedly surpassed the ‘Thriller’ album sales with their ‘Greatest Hits 1971-1975’ album. The RIAA noted the record is now 38-times platinum, which is made up of combined album sales and streaming on various platforms. Drummer Don Henley spoke on the news, saying “We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. Popular Detroit rapper Eastside Snoop was shot and killed while sitting in his car on Monday (August 20) night, according to local reports. Snoop, real name Antonio Carter, 28, lived in the east side of Detroit and was part of the rap group Team Eastside. He was also a friend and affiliate of Detroit rapper Peezy, who reacted to the news on Instagram, writing, "I ain’t been to sleep yet, I got damn near 150 missed calles from everybody, I ain’t even been able to kick it fr, you f***ed me up with this 1 Soda I ain’t gone lie." Robber Who Made Couples Have Sex at Gunpoint Gets 148 Years in Prison

Rasheed Powell, 43, just received a hefty prison sentence after being convicted on 60 counts of aggravated sexual assault and robbery after forcing couples to have sex at gunpoint in New Jersey area motels. Powell was arrested for crimes committed in 2012 during which he stalked couples staying in Elizabeth and Linden area motels and forcing them to commit sexual acts on one another before locking the men in the bathroom and sexually assaulting the women. The judge told Powell on Thursday, “Your reign of terror ends here.” One of Powell's victims in attendance at the sentencing stated, “I hope you don’t have the option to see daylight again.” Powell was sentenced to 148 years in a New Jersey state prison for his crimes. ESPN Says It Won't Air the National Anthem Before NFL Games This Year

ESPN has opted not to air the national anthem this season according to multiple sources. The announcement was made during the network's media day on Friday when president, Jimmy Pitaro, said the anthem wouldn't be televised for NFL or college games. This isn't unprecedented, however. ESPN occasionally aired the national anthem during its Monday Night Football games prior to the 2017 season. Last year the anthem was televised during the 16th anniversary of 9/11, and again when the Washington Redskins faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs following the Las Vegas massacre. Pitaro's message to the network was to remember that ESPN is about sports first and will touch on politics when those issues become relevant within a sports context. Source: vox.com

It seems as if the issues between Nicki Minaj and Safaree are heating up, as a report surfaced saying the MTV Video Music Awards are changing security plans to make sure that a situation doesn’t occur between the two personalities on the red carpet for the event. TMZ noted that both Nicki and Safaree will be on the red carpet for separate situations. Nicki is scheduled to perform while Safaree will be a representative for VH1. Because of that, sources noted extra measures will be taken to make sure that the former couple doesn’t speak to each other at all. Barbershop Argument Over Aretha Franklin Ends Up in Shooting

Two men reportedly got into an argument at a barbershop about whether Halle Berry should play Aretha Franklin in her upcoming biopic. The conversation took a sour turn though when one man decided to pull out his gun and shoot the other man. At 10:45 a.m this past Thursday (August 16), 44-year-old Suffolk, Virginia resident Michael Hatton shot 47-year-old Tony Lundy once outside of the barbershop, which put Lundy in critical condition. As a result, Hatton was arrested and held without bail after being treated for injuries. The two men were reportedly discussing who should be cast in the movie Aretha: From These Roots. Friend Who Found Bobbi Kristina's Body Reportedly Found Dead from Overdose

According to a report from TMZ, a close friend of Bobbi Kristina who found her non-responsive body in a bathtub has allegedly passed away from a drug overdose as well. Law enforcement officials in Mississippi said Max Lomas was visiting a friend’s home this past week and went to use the bathroom. The friend became worried when Lomas did not come out of the bathroom for a long time. From there, the friend checked on him and found Lomas non-responsive on the floor with a syringe near his body.
