Cleveland Kidnapper Ariel Castro Found Dead in Jail Cell

Infamous Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro, who was found guilty of kidnapping, torturing, and imprisoning three young women in his home for over a decade, was found dead in his jail cell on Tuesday night. JoEllen Smith, a spokesperson for the facility, confirmed the news, revealing that Castro had hanged himself in his cell. 

Castro, who pleaded guilty to 937 counts against him, was held in a cell separate from other inmates for his own protection. He was checked on every 30 minutes, but was not on suicide watch, which would require constant supervision.
