Oscar nominated Lupita Nyong'o has been pulling magazine covers left and right after her performance in 12 Years A Slave. The actress has been praised for her fashion and acting chops and recently, many have named her role model for dark skinned girls.
According to The Grio, with presence of dark skinned A-listers was virtually invisible until Lupita arrived on the scene. Her gorgeous looks and good eye for fashion has gotten her a lot of attention.
Kelley L. Carter along with many other writers are happy that mainstream media has praised her for her likeable personality and her posie. "We will probably see her gracing a lot of magazine covers," said Carter. "I won't be surprised if Vogue is negotiating a cover. I hope Lupita, and the women who look like Lupita, will see this as a shift in how dark-skinned women are viewed. It's another advancement and redefining what a beautiful woman is."
