RIP: Big Bank Hank (Member of The Sugarhill Gang) Passes Away

We’re sad to share the news today that Big Bank Hank has passed away from cancer. He was born August 5, 1957 in Bronx, NY. He was a member of The Sugarhill Gang, the first hip hop act to have a hit single, “Rapper’s Delight.”
Our thoughts & prayers are with his family.

“Rapper’s Delight” was a 1979 single by American hip-hop trio The Sugarhill Gang. While it was not the first single to feature rapping, it is generally considered to be the song that first popularized hip-hop in the United States and around the world. The song was ranked #248 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and #2 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs.
