Today, November 3rd, 2014, has become a truly historic day for the United States, for the iconic World Trade Center that previously collapsed as a result of the horrific attacks on September 11th, 2001, has officially reopened. Plans to rebuild the incredible structures have been in effect ever since the debris from the tragic attack were cleared in 2002, but as you can see, a project of this magnitude takes a lot of time and effort to complete.
Fast forward to today, November 3rd, and 1 World Trade Center has officially reopened and welcomed in a heaping 2,300 employees of its initial tenant, Conde Naste. The powerful magazine entity brought with it loads of workers for popular brands such as Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair, which have all taken offices throughout 24 floors of this massive structure in Lower Manhattan.
The building that has replaced the North Tower stands at 1,776 feet tall, which is significant to the year that America gained its independence. Just six months prior to the reopening of the World Trade Center, the 9/11 Museum opened to the public as well. Steve Plate, the overseer of the World Trade Center construction project, spoke very highly of the rebirth of the fallen site, and even called it the "eighth wonder of the world."
"It's a fantastic milestone," Steve said. "I was there that fateful day. And to see from where we started to where we are today, it's truly a miracle. It truly is the eighth wonder of the world. And the building itself is truly iconic."
