Matt Barnes Fined $50k For Comments About James Harden's Mother

Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes is unquestionably the NBA's modern-day Dennis Rodman. Tats, profanity, and bold statements. You name it, Matt Barnes certainly never holds back. And if you frequent his Instagram page, one thing he loves is his kids and the late 2Pac. Taking a page from the latter, Barnes got into a little spat with James Harden after a hard flagrant foul in game 2 (at the Toyota Center), and during the melee, Matt blurted some fighting words to Harden, which was aimed towards his mother. Something to the effect of telling James' mom, Monja Willis, to "s**k my d**k b**tch."

Well, the NBA wasn't pleased with Matt's in-game antics, and hit him with a $50,000 fine for his harsh remarks. In the past, Barnes has been hit with a plethora of hefty fines, most recently for kicking a bottle during a game late last year and cursing out the Suns owner, both resulting in $25k fines.

Matt has since apologized to James and his mom, leading to the latter (Monja Willis) accepting his apology, in a statement granted to TMZ that read, "What he told me was that he would never want to disrespect anyone's mother because his mother passed from cancer ... and that he was sorry. I accept his apology."

But, seriously, right near mother's day? Talk about perfect timing Matt. Those ones could come in need now.
