The Golden State Warriors were once again logged into the history books on Wednesday, June 7, and all they needed was the first 12 minutes of the game to do it. The old Splash Brothers tandem of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, plus Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala each opened up the game with a hot hand, scoring nine 3-point shots in the first quarter to surpass the record for 3-pointers made in a Finals quarter [7], held by various teams.
Thompson proved to be the most persistent, and most successful of the group, sinking 4 out of 5 shots from behind the arc. He would be followed by Durant and Curry, who each contributed two long range shots worth 3, and Andre Iguodala, who added 1.
The Warriors' good fortunes didn't stop with Game 3's opening quarter, however. The Western Conference champs would hit an additional three 3-point shots in the second quarter to give them a record 12 shots made from the 3-point line in an NBA Finals half.
