RZA Says New Wu-Tang Album is a Masterpiece

Legendary Wu-Tang producer the RZA recently expressed his excitement over the group’s upcoming album and even called it a “masterpiece.”
After a string of lackluster projects, and the disappointing sale of the group’s “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” album to pharma-bro and hip-hop antagonist Martin Shkreli, RZA announced that the upcoming “Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues” is one of the group’s best with longtime Wu affiliate Mathematics serving as producer. “For years, Math has had the idea of putting together a body of music using modern and legendary equipment such as ASR10 with vocal performances by Wu-Tang Clan members and other prominent MCs,” said RZA in a press release. “With ‘The Saga Continues’ he’s created a masterpiece.” ‘People Say,’ the album’s first single, features Redman and dropped last week. Its backdrop includes soulful sample and is produced by Mathematics. Clan members including Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck and Master Killah all deliver new verses on the song. And even though Mathematics handled a lot of work behind the boards for the project, RZA is still billed as the executive producer.
This seems like a breath of fresh air for Wu-Tang fans who have been waiting for the next release from the legendary Staten Island group. Their last commercial release, “A Better Tomorrow,” received a lukewarm response back in 2014. Ghostface Killah was given the responsibility of putting together the follow-up album after many fans and members of the group expressed disappointment over RZA’s direction on it. It’s been awhile since anyone has spoken about that project, but it seems like fans will get “The Saga Continues” first. The full album will drop on Oct. 13. Until then, fans can stream “People Say” which is now available on Apple Music and other streaming services.
