Trump: NFL Owners Are Afraid of Their Players

It has been nearly one week to the day Donald Trump sparked outrage across the world of sports when during a campaign rally he referred to anyone who might kneel during the National Anthem as a "son of a b***h" and urged NFL owners to fire them from the team. And the social media savvy President continues to launch attacks in the protests' direction. On Thursday morning, September 28, the Commander-In-Chief called the demonstrations "terrible" and said owners only showed solidarity because they are intimidated.
"I have so many friends that are owners. And they're in a box," Trump told Fox and Friends. "I mean I've spoken to a couple of them. They say, 'We are in a situation where we have to do something.' I think they're afraid of their players, you want to know the truth."
Trump went on to double down on his call for commissioner Roger Goodell to consider outlawing protests during the National Anthem or otherwise risk losing revenue. The President's remarks come one day after he tweeted that he had spoken with Jerry Jones and it was confirmed that the Cowboys will be standing going forward.
Thursday night marks the first game of the week, with the Chicago Bears heading to Green Bay to take on the Packers. While there is no certainty that any of the players will kneel heading into another week, the Packers have at least stated plans to link arms and have in fact invited their fans at Lambeau Field to join them, ahead of the match-up.
