Dannon Got Dak Prescott to Replace Cam Newton After Sexist Comment
There isn't a player in the NFL who has racked up more endorsement deals than Dak Prescott has this year, and last Thursday, October 5 he claimed another when yogurt company Dannon picked him up to represent its Oikos brand, it was reported over the weekend. If the timing of the Prescott signing appears curious, considering Dannon just recently made headlines over its decision to split ways with ambassador Cam Newton, that's because Thursday was the exact day the announcement concerning Newton was made.
Newton invited a media firestorm when during a postgame interview, following Week 4 action, he confessed that he found a question about "routes" coming from a woman to be humorous. Within 24-hours of the Carolina Panthers QB making the remark, Dannon stated to the press in which a company spokesperson expressed shock and declared that he'd no longer be working on their behalf. Despite the severance, the company did state that it would honor the rest of its contract with Newton.
Prescott now adds Dannon to a list of company sponsors that include Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Tostitos tortilla chips, Campbell's Chunky Soup, 7-Eleven, Panini, New Era Caps, AT&T, Beats, and Nicholas Air. All in all, he stands to haul in an annual $3 million from those deals.
