Black Panther' Named Top-Grossing Superhero Film of All Time

Another week another box office record for Black Panther. In what seems like a weekly occurrence, Black Panther has broken another record over the weekend. It just became the top-grossing superhero film of all time in the U.S. after surpassing the $623.4 million The Avengers made in 2012. Marvel Studios and Disney reportedly reached the milestone Saturday (March 24).
The Ryan Coogler-directed film is now one of seven films to ever earn $600 million or more domestically. Black Panther has topped all movies at the box office every week since opening February 16. According to reports, "Pacific Rim Uprising" will take the top spot this week ending "Black Panther's" reign at number one.
Black Panther's historic run also includes grossing $1.2 billion to date worldwide. It's only the 14th film to ever accomplish that feat. It also had the second biggest opening weekend for a Marvel Studios film, after The Avengers. It's also only the fourth film to top $100 million in each of its first two weekends.
The nearly all-black cast features Chadwick Boseman starring as T’Challa/Black Panther, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.
