Dwight Howard Reportedly Interested in Playing for the Lakers After Nets Buyout

It is being reported that NBA veteran big-man Dwight Howard would be interested in gaining a roster spot on the new look Los Angeles Lakers. Howard is currently waiting for the Brooklyn Nets to buyout his contract making him a free agent after spending last season with the Charlotte Hornets.

According to USA Today's Sam Amick (heard through HoopsHype's Alex Kennedy), Howard would relish the opportunity to play for the Lakers again as LeBron James now leads the squad instead of Kobe Bryant who Dwight had a shaky relationship with, at best. It's important to note, however, that the Lakers haven't explicitly expressed interest in Howard returning to the organization. But things have changed in the Lakers' front office since Dwight's departure making a potential return in the realm of possibility.

Considering the seismic move that Golden State made by adding DeMarcus Cousins, the Western Conference is yet again in an arms race to compete with the defending champs. Would Howard be a good fit and help the Lakers compete with the Warriors for the West this season?
