Sony CEO on PlayStation 5 Availability: 'Absolutely Everything Is Sold

Those looking to get their hands on the coveted PlayStation 5 will have to continue waiting or pay the exorbitant resale prices because Sony CEO Jim Ryan says there are no consoles left. Ryan recently spoke with a Russian news outlet where he revealed, “Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold.”

“I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now, in terms of my executive bandwidth, I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.”

Ryan also noted just how difficult COVID-19 has been for the company on the production side. “I wouldn’t plan on doing another big console launch in the midst of a global pandemic,” said Ryan. “And I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody else.”

Major retailers such as Walmart are scheduled to restock PS5 consoles in limited quantities ahead of the Black Friday rush. Many reporters say Black Friday will likely be the last opportunity to get a console before Sony is truly forced to face its production woes and consumers are relegated to the resale market.
