The U.S. set the record for the most coronavirus deaths in one day since the pandemic began, as 2,777 coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Wednesday (December 2). As cases topped 14 million, it was also revealed that the record was also set for new infections and hospitalizations.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 274,311 deaths reported. Health experts believe that cases will rise after the Thanksgiving holiday, as cases stemming from the holiday are likely to arise 7-10 days later. Now, the CDC is recommending people cancel plans to travel for the Christmas holiday, with CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield predicting it will "be the most difficult time in the public health history of this nation."
