Chris Tucker Reveals He Was Paid $10K for Role as 'Smokey' in 'Friday'
Chris Tucker recently stopped by Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe and recounted his experience filming the classic movie Friday.
Tucker revealed that he wasn't provided the biggest bag for his role as Smokey. According to Chris, he was only given $10,000 for the role. "It's one of those things—it was just a small movie," said Tucker. "We filmed it in 20 days. I got about $10,000 for it or whatever, I didn't care. I wanted the opportunity."
"It was that small of a movie, but that was the beauty of it," Tucker continued. "It allowed me to get into character. It wasn't no big distractions like big movie sets. You got light people and sound people and everybody wanna be a star. But that movie was just a camera and me and Cube on the porch. Magic came out of it, thank God."
The late-great John Witherspoon told DJ Vlad during their sitdown that all the actors got $5,000 for the film. However, that was contradicted by Paula Jai Parker who said she received more than the base $5K. Click here to see video
