A fake flyer showing stats for a match between Mike Tyson and Michael Jai White surfaced recently, which made White take to social media to discredit the flyer. White clarified that the flyer stems from a question he answered, noting he didn’t issue a challenge to Tyson.
White said “DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE! I’M NOT FIGHTING MIKE TYSON! This is social media BS. I just responded to a QUESTION, I didn’t issue a challenge. I’d be HONORED to box with Mike Tyson if I had the opportunity because he’s the best heavyweight of all time in my opinion. I love boxing and studied the man probably more than anyone! If I loved and played basketball and had the chance to play Michael Jordan I’d probably lose but I’d be an idiot not to take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
White went on to say he would be open to being Tyson’s sparring partner if the opportunity presented itself, and that people shouldn’t believe everything they see on social media, where statements can be flipped into an “arrogant and disrespectful challenge.”
