Hip-Hop pioneer The Kidd Creole of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was convicted of fatally stabbing a homeless man in 2017. On Wednesday (April 6), Manhattan D.A. Alvin L. Bragg Jr. announced that Kidd Creole was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter.
During his trial, prosecutors argued that The Kidd Creole walked past a homeless man, and the two got into a verbal altercation. During the argument, The Kidd Creole reportedly stabbed the homeless man twice with a steak knife and fled the scene. A group of tourists discovered the homeless man's body and got him medical help. However, the man later died from his injuries.
Prosecutors argued that after The Kidd Creole fled the scene, he went to his office, where he changed his clothes and cleaned the knife. He then reportedly threw the knife in a sewer near a Bronx subway station, which was later recovered by NYPD officers. The officers then linked the murder weapon to The Kidd Creole, who was later arrested for the incident.
The Kidd Creole will be sentenced on May 4.
