Brooklyn Nets Fire Steve Nash After Rough 2-5 Season Start
During the Brooklyn Nets’ media day, Steve Nash addressed reports claiming that Kevin Durant gave Nets owner Joe Tsai an ultimatum, saying either Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks get let go, or he leaves. Now, the Brooklyn Nets have reportedly fired Nash.
The Nets have experienced a rocky start to their season, as the team is now 2-5. Kyrie Irving previously made comments about Steve Nash during their 2020 season, saying the Nets didn’t have a real head coach. Nash was let go at the start of his third season with the team, whose record found them going 48-24 in 2021, 44-38 during the 2022 season, and 2-5 at the beginning of this season
Since his firing, Steve Nash said, “It was an amazing experience with many challenges that I'm incredibly grateful for. It was a pleasure to work with the players, performance team, and front office every day," he added. "I'm especially grateful to my coaching staff and video room who are a talented group with so much character and professionalism.” Jacque Vaughn will take Nash’s place as head coach against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
