iOS 26.0.1 just arrived this week, but the next more substantive iPhone update coming is iOS 26.1. It’s in beta testing now, but a public launch isn’t far off. Here’s the expected iOS 26.1 release date. iOS 26.1 expected to launch in late October Apple is a secretive company, but it can also be highly predictable in certain ways. For example, every September new iPhones launch at more or less the exact same time. Software launches tend to be very cyclical too. So even though Apple hasn’t yet announced an iOS 26.1 release date, we can predict fairly confidently when it will arrive. Here are release dates for the last few years of x.1 updates: iOS 18.1: Monday, October 28 iOS 17.1: Wednesday, October 25 iOS 16.1: Monday, October 24 As you can see, despite a little variability regarding the day of the week, general timing follows a clear pattern. Based on Apple’s history, iOS 26.1 is expected to launch in late October, likely around October 27. Monday, October 27 seems th...

Microsoft is rolling out its annual Windows 11 update (known as version 25H2) today. After testing the update in the Windows Insider Release Preview ring last month , version 25H2 is now starting to roll out to all Windows 11 users through Windows Update. The 25H2 update isn’t a huge one, so it won’t take long to install — Microsoft is delivering it as a small “enablement package. “This means that it contains all the recently announced features in Windows 11, version 24H2,” explains John Cable, vice president of program management for Windows servicing and delivery. “Both versions use a shared code base and servicing branch, streamlining the update.” This shared code base also means Microsoft will continue to release new Windows features monthly to both 24H2 and 25H2 versions of Windows 11. Version 25H2 does have some improvements behind the scenes, though. “Version 25H2 includes significant advancements in build and runtime vulnerability detection, coupled with AI assisted secure...

Amon-Ra St. Brown, wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, recently went viral after a touchdown celebration was caught on a hot mic during a game against the Baltimore Ravens. As he scored, St. Brown was heard shouting explicit language on live ESPN broadcast, which quickly circulated on social media. Many fans reacted with surprise, while others found humor in the unfiltered moment. Following the incident, St. Brown addressed the situation and expressed regret for what he said being picked up on national television. He admitted that the emotions of the game got the best of him but clarified that his words were not intended to be broadcast. The NFL community, while acknowledging the passion behind the moment, also discussed the importance of professionalism in front of a wide viewing audience. So far, there has been no verified report that the NFL fined him $42,000 for the incident. While the league often fines players for inappropriate conduct or unsportsmanlike behavior, of...

As reported by the The Wall Street Journal , gaming giant EA is set to go private—that is, no longer be traded on the stock market—in a $50 billion deal with an investor group. This would be the largest such leveraged buyout ever recorded. According to the WSJ's anonymous sources, EA could be sold for as much as $50 billion, though the final price has not yet been agreed on, and EA has an estimated market value of $43 billion. The group of investors reportedly includes the private equity firm Silver Lake and the government of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. The deal could be announced as early as next week, and would be the largest leveraged buyout ever recorded. A leveraged buyout is when a private equity firm uses a significant amount of borrowed money to seal the deal, with the asset set to be acquired used as collateral in the debt.

Nicki Minaj gave fans a first look at her next album with a provocative, now-deleted tweet on September 28, combining cryptic messaging , AI-generated imagery, and fan engagement. The post included a surreal visual of Roc Nation executive Desiree Perez riding a camel with Jay-Z ’s face superimposed. Alongside it, Minaj appeared in a black dress holding a sign reading “3.27.26,” revealing the album’s release date: March 27, 2026. The rapper also revealed the first track’s title: “1. The straw that broke the camel’s back.” The phrase, traditionally referring to a final tipping point, hinted the song—and the album itself—could open with a strong, pointed statement, potentially touching on industry tensions , personal experiences, or broader cultural commentary. Minaj teased a serialized rollout, writing, “I’ll unlock number 2 next week. Surprises for lots & lots of ppl. They have no clue,” paired with a detective emoji. The cryptic phrasing fuels spe...
New Survey Data Says 70% Of Gen Z Reported Being So Financially Stressed That They Can’t Sleep. Many Are Dealing With It By Bed Rotting And Doom Strolling On Social Media Instead Of Budgeting

A recent Fortune report highlights how financial stress is taking a heavy toll on Gen Z. Survey data revealed that about 70% of Gen Z respondents said they are so anxious about money that it’s affecting their ability to sleep. This level of stress has pushed many young people into coping mechanisms like “bed rotting”—lying in bed for long periods without productivity—and “doom scrolling” through social media late at night. Instead of tackling their financial worries with budgeting or long-term planning, many are seeking short-term distractions online. Experts suggest that Gen Z’s financial struggles stem from a combination of rising living costs, student loan debt, stagnant wages, and the pressure to keep up with a digital culture that often promotes expensive lifestyles. These factors leave many feeling trapped, with limited financial flexibility. The result is a cycle of stress, avoidance, and further anxiety as their problems remain unresolved. The article also points ou...

One X-Men ‘97 star has just dropped a massive update on Season 2 that’s sure to make your heart sink. X-Men ‘97 recruited one of the most impressive voice casts for any animated series ever, with returning stars like Lenore Zann , George Buza , and Cal Dodd coming back to play Rogue, Beast, and Wolverine, and newcomers like Holly Chou and Ray Chase voicing Jubilee and Cyclops. It’s safe to say the show was a hit, enough to become the highest-rated Marvel project of all time . Marvel was even confident enough that it was greenlit for a second season long before the first season hit Disney+. Fans were certainly disappointed when X-Men ‘97 wasn’t on the 2025 release slate, but we’ve since received official confirmation that Season 2 will be released sometime next year. Collider’s Maggie Lovitt recently moderated a Walking Dead panel for Cooper Andrews and Ross Marquand at FanX ...

The Brave and the Bold During his recent appearance on the podcast 2 Bears, 1 Cave (via CBR), James Gunn suggested the DCU’s new Batman will be a “brute.” I like the detective Batman, but I also really like the fighter Batman, that’s just the brute that’s fighting. Later in the podcast (via Collider), Gunn revealed there are internal conversations at DC about the color of Batman’s eye slits. Should Batman have white eyes? That’s a big subject of conversation. It’s like, ‘Guys, that’s really what matters?’ But those are the things they care about. Should his utility belt be yellow? Should he have the yellow crest around the bat? All of that sort of stuff. None of those things are what’s most important to me. What matters is the character, the story and I think we have a really really good story now for what’s happening with Batman.

The lawsuit involved claims that some users, who can get up to $51 under the deal, intended to sign up solely for a lower-cost Prime Video subscription. Three days into trial, Amazon has agreed to pay $2.5 billion to settle a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission accusing the tech giant of duping consumers into signing up for Prime subscriptions, which users were impeded from canceling. The lawsuit , filed under the Biden administration in 2023 in the opening salvo against Amazon’s retail dominance, alleged the company adopted a “coercive” user interface to trick users into enrolling in automatically renewing memberships. The 27th season premiere of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” started on a somber note: with a loss of one of their own. The episode, which aired Thursday night, revealed that the unit’s beloved former captain, Donald Cragen (Dann Florek), has died. The current captain of the team, Olivia Benson ( Mariska Hargitay), who started out over 25 years ago with the squad under Cragen, walks into a bar filled with current and former colleagues gathered to remember their former leader. She’s greeted first by George Huang ( BD Wong ), a psychiatrist who previously assisted the group during the early years, and then embraced by Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters), who was a detective alongside Benson during the show’s first season in 1999. It was also a romantic reunion of sorts since Benson and Cassidy casually hooked up in some of the show’s first episodes, and in later seasons, they reconnected and had a more serious relationship. The Seattle-based coffee giant said store closures would start immediately. The company wouldn't give an exact number of stores that are closing, but the bulk of the closures appear to be in the U.S. and Canada. Starbucks said it expects to have 18,300 North American locations when its fiscal year ends on Sunday. As of June 29, the company had 18,734 locations. Starbucks has not yet publicly shared a store closing list and did not reply to a request Thursday for a list to be provided. However, workers at Starbucks locations around the country have begun sharing online that they have been told their stores were closing . Using that list as a starting point, we were able to cross-check listings on the Starbucks online store locators. Under store hours, locations shutting down have "closed" listed for Sunday , Monday, Tuesday, and so on. As of Sept. 25, we've been able to identify at least 90 Starbucks stores set to close, based on the company's w...

VALRICO, Fla. (WWSB) - A Valrico mother is facing attempted murder charges after witnesses say she tried to drown her three children at a community pool. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at 1:28 a.m. Thursday at a community pool on Sacramento Street. Deputies found Shaniece Willingham, 24, on the pool deck. Family members had already intervened, pulling the children, ages 8 months, 2 years and 3 years, from the water and taking them to a nearby home. The sheriff’s office said Willingham left her parents’ home with the children following an argument. Shortly after, she began posting videos to Instagram saying she was going to harm herself and her children. Alerted by the videos, family rushed to the pool to see Willingham throw the children into the water before jumping in herself and holding the children underwater. They immediately intervened, deputies said, removing everyone from the pool. The children were not injured. Willingham was taken into ...

Windows 10 PCs can receive free security updates until October 2026. To qualify for free personal updates, enroll with a Microsoft account. Customers in any of the 30 countries in the EEA automatically qualify. The Windows 10 end-of-support date is nearly here. Over the summer, Microsoft seemed to have belatedly realized that owners of tens of millions of consumer PCs running Windows 10 aren't ready to replace their old computers, and those customers are also not about to fork over $30 for a one-year Extended Security Updates (ESU) subscription . So, at the end of June, just days before the end of its fiscal year, the company waved the white flag and announced new "free enrollment options" for the ESU program, along with a description of the steps customers will need to follow to sign up. Anyone willing to try out Microsoft's cloud-based Windows Backup or spend a few minutes per day with the Bing search engine over the course of a week can avoid the $30...

A viral app called Neon, which offers to record your phone calls and pay you for the audio so it can sell that data to AI companies, has rapidly risen to the ranks of the top-five free iPhone apps since its launch last week. The app already has thousands of users and was downloaded 75,000 times yesterday alone, according to app intelligence provider Appfigures. Neon pitches itself as a way for users to make money by providing call recordings that help train, improve, and test AI models But Neon has gone offline, at least for now, after a security flaw allowed anyone to access the phone numbers, call recordings, and transcripts of any other user, TechCrunch can now report. TechCrunch discovered the security flaw during a short test of the app on Thursday. We alerted the app’s founder, Alex Kiam (who previously did not respond to a request for comment about the app), to the flaw soon after our discovery. YouTube will finally allow you to hide the pop-up recommendations that appear at the end of videos, the company announced on Wednesday. Now when you see an end screen, you can tap a new “Hide” button in the top-right corner of the video player to hide the pop-ups from the current video you’re watching. Selecting this button will only hide end screens for the current video you’re watching, not for all videos on the platform, the company notes. If you want to bring the end screen back, you can tap the Show button. The decision to let users hide end screens is a welcome addition to the platform, especially since they can end up covering the last bit of a video and make it hard to see what’s happening in some cases. The company also announced that it’s removing the Subscribe button that appears when you hover your cursor over a video’s branded watermark. YouTube explains that it’s doing so because there’s already a Subscribe button directly below the video player. YouTube says ...

Fresh off taking control of Paramount last month, David Ellison apparently has even bigger ambitions. According to the Wall Street Journal, Ellison is now eyeing Warner Bros. Sources say Ellison is considering a cash-heavy bid that would merge two of Hollywood’s most powerful studios and two of its most influential media brands. The idea alone is staggering. But here’s the reality check: Warner Bros. Discovery is in the middle of a complicated restructuring, splitting off its cable networks from its streaming and studio operations. Studies Show 63% Of Gen Z Workers Are Already Using Up Their Retirement Savings

A new wave of research highlights how financially strained Gen Z workers already are when it comes to retirement savings. Reports show that nearly half of Gen Z employees have tapped into their retirement accounts early, often due to pressing financial needs. Many are facing rising living costs, student debt, and limited emergency savings, which has pushed them to dip into funds that were originally meant for their future. One study by Transamerica found that about a quarter of Gen Z workers have already taken hardship withdrawals or early distributions from their 401(k)s or IRAs. Meanwhile, other surveys indicate that the number could be even higher, with some suggesting close to half have raided their accounts. These findings suggest a troubling trend: younger workers are treating retirement accounts like short-term savings tools, rather than long-term investments. Financial experts warn that this could create serious long-term consequences. Pulling from retirement funds ...
