Gilbert Arenas’ Ex-GF Laura Govan Drops 4-Word Message For Matt Barnes Amid Celebrity Softball Game

NBA legend Gilbert Arenas‘ ex-girlfriend, Laura Govan, recently uploaded a photo of their son, Alijah, sharing a candid moment with former NBA star Matt Barnes. On Monday, Oct. 6, Laura posted a photo to her Instagram stories that shows 2017 NBA champion Barnes being captured with USC Trojans guard Alijah.

The photo was taken as Laura Govan was one of the participants in the Team Watson’s Annual Celebrity Charity Softball Game, held on Sunday at the Cal State University Northridge Baseball Field.

This prompted Alijah Arenas and Matt Barnes to link up and greet each other as the two were seen embracing. Both were spectators for the softball showcase. Laura wrote a message that acknowledged their connection.

“@alijah0arenas UNC in real life @matthewkbarnes,” Govan captioned.

Alijah Arenas is nursing a knee injury that would require surgery, as announced in July of this year. This means that Arenas is set to miss the next 6-8 months, presumably his whole freshman year of college basketball, in the upcoming 2025-26 season for coach Eric Musselman’s Trojans. This is much to the dismay of Gilbert Arenas, Laura Govan, and Matt Barnes, as they were all keen on seeing him perform in college.
