America is making huge strides towards equality thanks to a grassroots campaign entitled "Women on 20s." Their petition to replace historical, White male figures on American currency with "exemplary American woman who ha[ve] helped shape our Nation's great history," just needs to be approved now by Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew, and the woman who has received the most votes to be featured on the bill is none other than, Harriet Tubman.
Coming out on top with 118,328 votes, the famed abolitionist surpassed "primary" candidates Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks and Clara Barton to be selected as the face portrayed on the $20 bill with a total of over 600,000 votes casted.
Now to see Harriet Tubman -- who helped 300 slaves gain freedom as the conductor of the Underground Railroad -- on the bill, the campaign needs President Obama to make the order to the Secretary of the Treasury. Stay tuned to VladTV to find out if we'll be seeing a new face on our currency soon.
