According to reports, the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to send guard Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, and draft-pick compensation. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Pels are slated to receive three future first-round picks in addition to pick-swaps. David Aldridge of The Athletic also reported that one of the first-rounders New Orleans will receive is the No. 24 overall pick in Wednesday's draft.
With Holiday's exit, the Pelicans are fully committing to their young core headlined by Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo Ball. At one time, Holiday was part of the Pelicans' long-term plan alongside Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. However, an Achilles injury to Cousins midway through the 2017-18 season marked the end of that trio's future. By January 2019, Anthony Davis requested a trade that ultimately landed him in Los Angeles in exchange for their young talent. Now Holiday goes back to the Eastern Conference (previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers) to try to help the Bucks retain Giannis Antetokounmpo when he's up for free agency next season.
