On Friday, an elderly woman in her 80s named Rose Wiegand went out for a stroll near the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club when an unfortunate mishap caused her to tumble into the Sarasota county pond. According to witnesses, what happened next was a horrific incident in which two large alligators emerged from the water and dragged Wiegand deeper into the water, killing her moments later. Initially, it was believed that the elderly woman might have suffered a medical episode moments before being overtaken by the two carnivores reptiles, but a report from the examiner, after the fact, revealed that her death was a direct result of the attack and nothing more.  When news of Weigand's passing spread throughout the community, her fellow residents were stuck with sadness and disbelief. “I mean it’s pretty horrible and it’s shocking to think that that could actually happen,” said a resident from the victim's community named John Whitworth. “We see alligators from ti...

A Connecticut man was arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on two women who didn't thank him for holding a door open for them.  Police say Joshua Murray, 25, became “upset” after the women showed no gratitude leading him to brandishing the weapon at the women outside the store. When authorities arrived they found Murray armed nearby. He reportedly "interfered" with the arrest but was eventually detained and charged "with a felony charge of carrying a pistol without a permit. He has also been given related misdemeanor charges of interfering with an officer, and two counts of second-degree breach of peace." Source:  Thedailybeast.com

McDonald's and Wendy's are both giving away  free fries  this week. On Wednesday, in celebration of the (apparently real) National French Fry Day, McDonald's will give away free orders of large fries — with no purchase necessary. However, the free fries can only be ordered through the McDonald's  app , and customers must be members of the chain's loyalty program. Similarly, Wendy's ( WEN ) on Monday announced the beginning of Fry Week, during which the chain is offering free fries with specific purchases that will change  each day this week . For example, on Tuesday Wendy's customers can get free medium fries with any salad purchase.

Walter Ray Allen, one of the 75 Greatest Players in NBA history, had the unique opportunity to play against Michael Jordan as well as play against and alongside LeBron James. Therefore, his opinion is one of the more respected when the GOAT debate is broached, particularly when it's a two-man conversation between LeBron and MJ.  While having the debate with a young baller, Allen explained why he doesn't rank LeBron over MJ.  The young fan said he's taking LeBron for his ability to both pass and score the ball. “Is he a great free throw shooter? Is he a great three-point shooter? Is he a great dribbler?” Allen responds, adding, “So you're saying he's the GOAT, but he ain’t even the greatest in all them categories. You know who it is? MJ."

Previously, Nicki Minaj made an appearance at the Essence Festival and performed a variety of her hit songs. The performance found Minaj bringing out acts like Birdman and Lil Wayne, and she ran through songs like “Beez In The Trap,” “Did It On Em,” and more. When she got “Monster,” a Kanye West hit where she was featured, Minaj seemingly had the song cut off and said, “Hold up, I’m ‘monster’d’ out, and we don’t f**k with clowns.”  Since then, it appears the comments have made their way to West, who has unfollowed the Queens artist on Instagram. It was speculated that Minaj’s comments stem from an appearance West made on “Hot S**t” with Cardi B,  who Minaj had issues with in the past . 

Ethan Reyes, a 14-year-old rapper from Yonkers, New York, was murdered by a 15-year-old assailant on a Subway platform in Manhattan. The brutal stabbing occurred Saturday in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood around 3 pm. Reyes was an up-and-coming drill rapper who had been releasing music under the stage name Notti Osama. His tragic passing comes just two weeks after he dropped a music video for a song called "Without You."  According to reports, the events leading up to the stabbing culminated with a street fight between Reyes and the alleged stabber, whose identity has been concealed because he's a minor. The two parties involved are said to have been rivals who had been beefing with one another for quite some time. Their brawl eventually spilled down into the subway station, where Reyes allegedly pushed the other party involved down onto the tracks before he was stabbed. Previously,  Vince McMahon stepped down as WWE CEO  amid a probe into alleged hush payments for misconduct that amounted to around $3 million. Now, a report via Wall Street Journal surfaced, noting McMahon has dished out $12 million to 4 women to stay quiet about sexual misconduct.  McMahon reportedly made other payments in the past 16 years to put a halt on sexual misconduct claims, with one former wrestler receiving $7.5 million after the former WWE CEO allegedly “coerced her into giving him oral sex and then demoted her and, ultimately, declined to renew her contract in 2005 after she resisted further sexual encounters.” The former WWE CEO reportedly has paid $1 million to former employees, with one contractor claiming McMahon sent her unsolicited nude photos. The situation for Gunna has seemingly been getting a little more complicated, as prosecutors alleged that a nurse tried to smuggle drugs into jail for the rapper. The situation was brought up during Gunna’s bond hearing, resulting in the rapper being denied bond  again . Now, a photo of the nurse, along with the alleged amount of drugs she tried to smuggle, has been revealed.  According to WSB-TV, a nurse tried to smuggle the bag full of marijuana and cocaine into the facility but was confronted by a deputy. Cardi B wasn't having it when a handsy fan at the Wireless Festival in London got too close to her while she was on stage. It's unclear what sparked the altercation but Cardi can be seen on the jumbo-tron striking the fan with her microphone before the screen turns black. Tensions can flare up and lead to physical altercations in the most unlikely of places. One such place would be an Erykah Badu concert, however, after a recent of show of her's proved that to be false. In the video, Badu is seen on stage performing until the camera pans to the women in the audience already tussling. On Friday, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new bill into law which will stop police from arresting those loitering for prostitution.  “To be clear, this bill does not legalize prostitution," Newsom said in a signing message. “It simply revokes provisions of the law that have led to disproportionate harassment of women" and transgender adults, particularly those from poor Black and Brown communities.  The measure also will allow those who were previously convicted or are serving sentences to ask a court to dismiss and seal the record of the conviction. California's new law comes on the heels of similar legislation passed in the state of New York last year in what Sen. Scott Wiener calls a "a broader effort to end violence toward and discrimination against sex workers." Source:  Twitter.com

According to reports, police have identified a "person of interest" in the shooting that occurred during the Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.  Robert "Bobby" Crimo III, 22, was taken into custody on Monday evening after a brief pursuit.  Crimo, who goes by the stage name "Awake the Rapper," was allegedly standing atop a building and fired shots into a crowd, killing six individuals and wounding 30.  Charges have yet to be filed. 

Summertime in Chicago has been the city's most murderous season for several years. Hence, as the murders continue to rise with the heat, so does the alarming body count for the extended fourth of July weekend this year. Over the past three days, 60 people have been shot, causing fifteen victims to lose their lives. While most of the shootings have affected young men within the 17-34 demographic, one of the most notable victims was a 10-year-old boy who was shot in the ankle once and buttocks twice. This incident occurred in the Parkway Gardens apartment complex, located near the conjunction of Englewood Avenue and South Wallace Avenue, around 10:30 pm, when the boy was in his home. He has since been taken to omer Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in good condition. Apple has a  big update to CarPlay  slated for sometime later this year, but in the meantime, the tech giant has begun working with partners to support a new feature that will let users pay for gas directly inside the company's infotainment platform.  While the ability to purchase fuel using CarPlay was first revealed during developer sessions at  WWDC earlier this month , it didn't get a ton of attention until recently when energy company HF Sinclair announced plans to implement the feature at its gas stations in the U.S.  HF Sinclair told  Reuters  that more specific details will be released in the coming months, but the basic idea is that instead of needing to swipe your credit card at the pump, users will be able to buy gas via an app in CarPlay. On Thursday,  Beyoncé  took to her Instagram account and published the album cover for an upcoming project that she has titled RENAISSANCE. In the photo, the 28-time Grammy winner can be seen, sitting atop a crystalized horse, while body chains are draped over her half-naked body. In a dissenting opinion in a case in which the Supreme Court declined to hear a religious liberty challenge to New York’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate from 16 health care workers.  “They object on religious grounds to all available COVID–19 vaccines because they were developed using cell lines derived from aborted children,” Thomas wrote. “Because I would address this issue now in the ordinary course, before the next crisis forces us again to decide complex legal issues in an emergency posture, I respectfully dissent.” However, none of the vaccines contain biological material from aborted fetuses.
