Homeless Man Holds Up Bank for $1 to See Doctor in Jail

In a desperate attempt to seek medical attention, a homeless Oregon man named Timothy Dean Alsip held up a Bank of America for just $1 so he could be arrested and see a doctor while behind bars.  The 50-year-old allegedly walked into a Bank of America just outside of Portland around 10 a.m. on Friday, August 23rd, and calmly handed a note to one of the employees that read, "This is a hold up.  Give me a dollar."

The staff complied and alerted police to Alsip's odd robbery attempt.  He allegedly sat down in the bank lobby and patiently waited for police to arrive and take him to jail.  Alsip didn't try to resist as he was cuffed and charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree theft.  He revealed to his arresting officers that he only did what he did so he could seek medical attention, with jail being his only option to do so.

Due to Timothy only holding up the bank for $1 to seek medical attention and the fact that he has no previous criminal record, the robbery charge has been dismissed.  He is still in jail, however, for he wasn't able to pay a $40,000 bail.
