Elon Musk Reportedly Contemplating Monetizing Twitter With Embedded and Quote Tweets

Image
Elon Musk  is reportedly looking to further monetize  Twitter  beyond its Twitter Blue subscription service. Reuters  reports  that sources say the billionaire might try to make money from tweets and slash executives’ salaries. He reportedly notified the banks—which helped him  purchase Twitter for $44 billion  on Monday—about his tentative plans earlier this month. To pay for the purchase, he secured $13 billion in loans and another $12.5 billion margin loan fixed to his Tesla stock; he recently sold $8.5 billion of his Tesla shares. He paid for the balance in cash. In addition to potentially cutting salaries—which he’s said could amount to $3 million in savings—he’s considering monetizing tweets “that contain important information or go viral,” the report writes. He’s also contemplating having websites pay a fee to quote or embed tweets from verified accounts, but will keep “moderation policies on the social media platform…as free as possible.” He might also alter the Twi

Multiple Guns Found at A$AP Rocky's Home During Police Search

Image
Following the news of A$AP Rocky's arrest last week in connection with a 2021 shooting in Hollywood, police raided Rocky's Hollywood home, where they seized multiple guns.  According to TMZ, investigators are conducting ballistics tests on the weapons found in Rocky's home to see if he was the gunman in the shooting. They will also be checking the background of all the weapons seized in the search to determine if they're registered or stolen.  Rocky was surprised at LAX after touching down in a private jet from Barbados when LAPD officers surrounded and cuffed him. Investigators reportedly didn't want to tip Rocky or his team off, as they didn't want to run the chance of any weapons leaving Rocky's home before their search.  More details to come.  Source:  TMZ

Never-Before-Seen Security Footage Shows DaBaby's Fatal Shooting from 2018

Image
When DaBaby was an emerging artist three years ago, one of the major headlines surrounding the North Carolina rapper was a fatal Walmart shooting he was involved in just weeks before signing his record deal with Interscope Records. The subject was brought up during DaBaby's  interview  with  VladTV , but both DaBaby and DJ Vlad agreed to avoid the topic because it was still an open case at the time. A few months after DaBaby's 2019 interview with  VladTV , it was reported that the charges related to the shooting were  dropped . While DaBaby avoided concealed gun charges, he was eventually  sentenced  to one year of unsupervised probation. The rapper was never charged with the killing of 19-year-old Jaylin Craig, who was shot and killed during a fight that reportedly involved DaBaby and multiple individuals in the store. Around the time of the shooting, DaBaby said he acted in self-defense and claimed he was shopping with two of his children and their mother when someone pulled

Man Arrested for Allegedly Shooting 14-Year-Old 'Doorbell Ditch' Prankster

Image
A Long Island man was recently arrested after he allegedly shot a teen prankster who rang his doorbell in an innocent game of "ding-dong ditch" or "doorbell ditch."  James Moshier, 64, was charged with assault and recklessly injuring a child with a deadly weapon after allegedly shooting the teen in the arm. Police say the teen knocked on Moshier's door several times the night of the shooting causing the woman of the residence to believe they were being burglarized. She then woke Moshier who subsequently fired his shotgun at the boy.  Per NY Post:  Several other teens who were at a sleepover with the shooting victim told the cable outlet he and another friend were bored and had picked a random home in the neighborhood to doorbell ditch. “Sometimes what we think are harmless pranks turn into major incidents,” Southold Police Capt. James Ginas reportedly said, urging people to “be smart.” Source:  nypost.com

Toddler Born With Two Pe****s Has the Larger One Removed By Doctors in Brazil

Image
Two years ago, a Brazilian baby boy was born with two functioning penises that were conjoined at the base. The rare condition, which has been medically termed diphallia, is a birth defect that affects just one out of every five to six million babies. According to reports, medical practitioners in Sãn Paulo originally planned on removing the smaller genital organ, which was located on the right side but they decided to disconnect the larger genital organ instead because the patient was unable to urinate with it, due to an unusually narrow urethra.  The surgery was deemed a success, but it is unclear whether or not the young patient will be able to use the remaining genital organ to reproduce once his body matures into adolescence and adulthood. In the aftermath of the surgery, the two-year-old will also face increased odds of dysfunction in the colorectal and kidney systems, which could lead to death later down the line. Mike Tyson Repeatedly Punches Man In The Face After He Antagonized Him On A JetBlue Flight

Image
Mike Tyson seemed to lose his cool on a plane on Wednesday night ... repeatedly punching a man in the face after the guy had apparently annoyed him. TMZ Sports has learned ... the incident all went down at around 10:30 PM PT as Tyson was slated to fly out of San Francisco International Airport to Florida. A witness on the plane says as he and his friend were boarding Tyson's flight ... the boxing legend was initially cool with them and the other passengers. The witness tells us Mike took a selfie with him ... and then was patient with his overly excited buddy, who kept trying to talk to the 55-year-old fighter as he sat behind him. Eventually, though, we're told Tyson had enough of the guy behind him talking in his ear ... and told him to chill. When the guy didn't, that's when the witness says Tyson started to throw several punches at the man's face. Video we obtained shows Tyson throwing a flurry of blows at the man, which you can see bloodied the passenger's

Future Reacts to Being Called Toxic, Says Women Won't Admit They Were Toxic to Him

Image
Future recently sat down for a cover story for GQ magazine, where he opened up about collaborating with Drake and Kanye, and he also addressed being labeled as a "toxic" person in relationships.  The topic came up while Future was discussing "Worst Day," his first single of 2022, where he addressed his multiple baby mothers in the line, "Feel like I’m God-level, so many chicks I adore / Avoidin’ the hurt, ridin’ in circles in a Aventador."  Future explained that he wanted to put the situation out in the open on the song, stating, "I’m just like, sh*t, this is the perfect time to put it out. Get past it. Talk about it. Don’t have to talk about it no more. It was like some sh*t the fans wanted to hear from me, but at the same time I was already really past it."  Future then addressed controversial social media star Kevin Samuels being in the "Worst Day" video, which was labeled as a meeting of "toxic all-stars." Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Rips HBO's 'Winning Time,' Calls It 'Boring' and 'Shallow'

Image
Basketball icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is not a fan of HBO's new hit series Winning Time which satircally chronicles the rise of Kareem's "Showtime Lakers" of the 1980s.  Kareem slammed the show in a recent blog post where he asked, “How did so many talented people go so terribly wrong?” While Abdul-Jabbar wasn't particularly upset about how he is portrayed in the series, he is put off by how "boring" the show is "over and over."  “I thought the poor quality of ‘Don’t Look Up’ was an anomaly,” Abdul-Jabbar writes. “I hoped that perhaps because he was overwhelmed by his passion about global warming, he let his commitment overshadow his critical eye. But now that ‘Winning Time’ suffers from some of the same shallowness and lazy writing, I’m not so sure.” Kareem pointed out how underdeveloped the characters are in the show. “The characters are crude stick-figure representations that resemble real people, the way Lego Han Solo resembles Harrison Ford.

Vince Staples Says Black People Are Viewed 'Like We're Entertainment

Image
Long Beach, CA native Vince Staples isn't one to shy away from expressing opinions and critiques about the hip-hop industry and society at large. During a recent interview with  The Guardian , Staples explained why he thinks black people are seen as sources of entertainment rather than human beings.  “I feel like a lot of the time, we get this voyeurism: ‘Ah man, it must be so hard,’ or, ‘I can’t imagine growing up where you grew up, experiencing what you did.’ People look at us like we’re entertainment and not people,” he told  The Guardian . “That’s how we look at rap music. That’s how we look at Black people.” Staples noted how fans “engage in trauma porn for people obsessed with poverty and violence who don’t know it, don’t digest it or really care about it.” He added, “The truth is, someone can like my music, but if I did one of these things that’s talked about in music for survival I would be shunned by the world.” “We just don’t care about people like me and wher

‘Streets of Rage’ movie adaptation reportedly in the works

Image
Sega Genesis’  Streets of Rage  franchise is reportedly coming to the silver screen. Sources  told   Deadline  that  John Wick  creator Derek Kolstad wrote a script adaptation on spec. Also to be involved are  Sonic  franchise producers dj2 Entertainment and Escape Artists. While no deal has been signed yet, it’s likely to soon be in motion. Widely known as one of the most popular Sega franchises from the early 90s, the original  Streets of Rage  trilogy still has an  enthusiastic fanbase  drawn to its vintage aesthetic and EDM soundtrack. The beat-em-up games feature ex-cops who take on underground criminal gangs. The franchise finally got a long-awaited sequel in 2020 with the release of  Streets of Rage 4 , which sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide. The games offer very little as far as  storyline , which gives the film a lot of liberty, but also very little to work off of. A Streets of Rage film adaptation has serious potential to draw crowds, given that there’s

Ryan Reavis Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison For His Role in Mac Miller's Fatal Overdose

Image
According to reports, one of the three-drug dealers responsible for the fentanyl overdose that took the late  Mac Miller’s  life was sentenced to about 11 years in prison on Monday. Ryan Michael Reavis is said to have admitted to his role as the "middle man" in the drug deal that ultimately killed the celebrated "Self Care" rapper in a courtroom moments before his punishment was handed down by U.S. District Judge Otis D. Wright II. The defendant was hoping to only serve five years in prison because he contested that he was completely unaware that the pills he gave to Mac Miller were deadly. Nevertheless, an emotional statement from Mac Miller's mother, Karen Meyers, may have helped seal the 39-year-old's fate. “My life went dark the moment Malcolm left his world,” Meyers’ statement read. “Malcolm was my person, more than a son. We had a bond and kinship that was deep and special and irreplaceable. We spoke nearly every day about everything – his

Macklemore and Marshawn Lynch are now minority owners of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, which was announced on Monday (April 18). The amount of their investment has not been made public, although similar minority equity stake deals are generally for 1% of a team or less.  Marshawn reacted to the news in a statement, "This is something I never would have imagined. I always dreamed of playing on a professional team but owning one is something special. As I look back on some of my accomplishments — I retired before I was 30 and now being an owner of a professional club at the age of 35 – I'm gonna continue to count my blessings." Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke revealed that Macklemore and Marshawn expressed interest in the team last summer. Leiweke told MSNBC, "For us, we didn’t need additional investors, but the thing that attracted us to these guys was their interest in community activism through this organization, and that’s a big deal."  Macklemore, who Leiweke

Young Buck Reportedly at Risk of Losing Gold Teeth, Cash App Gifts in Bankruptcy Case

Image
In wake of his latest dispute with  50 Cent ,  Young Buck  is walking the proverbial tightrope between resuming his music career and losing everything he owns. Back in January of 2020, the Nashville native filed for bankruptcy for the second time in 10 years. Now, the trustees from his most recent case are accusing him of hiding some of his most valuable possessions from them. Therefore, they are dragging him back to court, so that he can testify under oath that he does not have the money or the assets to pay off the IRS, 50 Cent, the mother of his children, and a slew of creditors. The "Shorty Wanna Ride" rapper originally agreed to pay his debtees a sum of $515 per month. But because the trustees from his case have suspected foul play, due to his flashy social media posts, Young Buck will have to re-appear in court on May 6th with ownership documents for items such as his gold teeth caps, his gold chains, his vehicles, and even the donations that he secured on C

In the book, Garcelle detailed meeting and dating then-Bulls superstar Michael Jordan.  Garcelle explained she met Jordan on a photo shoot, writing, "I was impressed by how tall and handsome he was. He took me on a golf date after the shoot and showed me how to hold a club properly and swing." She then revealed that she turned down Jordan's invitation to a trip to Hawaii, writing, "Like a naive little girl, I was ‘clutching my pearls’ and shocked by the idea of going to Hawaii with a man I had just met." Garcelle then admitted, "I blew that one!"  Garcelle also recently spoke about her romance with her "Fresh Prince" co-star Will Smith, revealing that they went out a few times, but the relationship didn't last. Atlanta Rapper Cash Out Accused of Using His Company to Engage in Sex Trafficking

Image
According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, an Atlanta-based rapper known as Cash Out is facing several charges including rape, sex trafficking, and luring women into prostitution. Cash Out (aka John Michael Hakeem Gibson), reportedly used the allure of his fame and a company that he started with his four brothers (Pyrez Music Group LLC) to recruit young women for a litany of acts including commercial sexual activity.  The indictment involving this case states that the victims were promised power, benefits, and upward mobility within the company if they complied with the sexually explicit work environment that the Gibson brothers created at their workplace. To make matter worse, the Fulton County deputy district attorney, Earnell Winfrey, has indicated that Cash Out used his stature as a celebrity to pressure the victims into a life of prostitution as well. “We’ve rescued two [sex workers] so far,” Winfrey said. “Some of these women are our most vulnerable women and he

Women's Prison Inmates Impregnated After Sex with Transgender Prisoners in N.J.

Image
Last year, a women's prison called the Edna Mahan Correction Facility began to welcome transgender females in the aftermath of a lawsuit that challenged New Jersey's gender identity policies. Today, 27 of the 800 inmates who are currently being housed at the prison are transgender females. From a societal standpoint, this may sound progressive in theory. But now, it appears as though the Edna Mahan Correction Facility may have run into a bit of an issue from a biological standpoint. Some of the biological females at the facility have been engaging in sexual relations with the transgender inmates that still have their male anatomy. Hence, it was recently reported that two unidentified inmates from the facility have been impregnated by their transgender peers. According to reports, the aforementioned incidents of sexual engagement were consensual. But, because of the unique outcome that this occurrence has produced, the DOC's external affairs executive director ha

YouTube says picture-in-picture will hit all iOS 15 devices in the coming days

Image
If you don't yet have  YouTube picture-in-picture  on your Apple device, you will soon (but not as soon as you'd think — read the update below). YouTube has  told users  PiP should be available "in a matter of days" across all devices running  iOS 15  or later. As with other apps that support PiP on iOS, this will let you keep a floating video window pinned to your screen while you shift your focus to other activities. The feature has been a long time in coming. YouTube said it was first rolling out PiP to Premium subscribers  in June of last year , with plans to eventually bring the perk to all viewers. Some users  found workarounds  (such as using the mobile website) shortly after Apple enabled PiP with iOS 14, but that functionality quickly disappeared. YouTube is relatively late when Disney+, Netflix, Twitch and others enabled PiP within months. Nonetheless, it remains a large upgrade. You won't have to confine yourself to YouTube's app just to

Etsy sellers go on strike over fee hikes

Image
Etsy sellers are acting on their promise to  go on strike .  The Wall Street Journal   notes  some crafters are  protesting  the marketplace's latest fee increase by putting their shops into "vacation mode" for a week ending April 18th. Organizer Kristi Cassidy and others are also asking customers to boycott Etsy for the same period. It's unclear just how many sellers have taken action, but a petition to CEO Josh Silverman has nearly 54,000 signatures as of this writing. The catalyst is a transaction fee hike from 5 percent to 6.5 percent. While that might not sound like much, Cassidy noted that this essential fee will have "more than doubled" in under four years. She and other sellers have also complained about a sometimes-mandatory  Offsite Ads program  that charges extra fees for items sold through that system, and a Star Seller program that pressures shops into meeting sometimes unrealistic shipping and support goals. There are also complaint

Los Angeles Lakers Players Were Reportedly Texting During Games in Front of Frank Vogel

Image
For the Los Angeles Lakers, it appears as though their regular season has ended in just as dramatic of a fashion as it began. Gone are the team's championship aspirations, as they failed to qualify for the league's play-in tournament, after being declared the odds on favorites to win it all back in October. Reality has set in for the most winningest franchise in the history of the NBA. Their newly assembled big three (featuring  LeBron James , Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook) became an unmitigated disaster less than halfway through the season and the two head coaches that they passed on (Tyronn Lue and Jason Kidd) are flourishing with the franchises that decided to hire them. Now, to add insult to injury, it's been reported from sources within the organization that the Lakers' players were texting on their phones, during regular-season games this year. Some players even had the brazen audacity to text while their head coach,  Frank Vogel,  was standing d

Burger King Whopper 35 percent smaller than in ads, lawsuit says

Image
Walter Coleman thought his Burger King burger was going to be large and satisfying — as glorious as the advertisements portrayed it. But Coleman and countless others felt cheated when they discovered the actual size of their burgers, a new lawsuit alleges. Now, Coleman and other plaintiffs are leading the charge in a class-action lawsuit against Burger King in a bid to hold the company accountable and get their money back. The lawsuit, filed last week in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleges that Burger King is misrepresenting the size of its food in its advertisements and that customers are continually duped into buying a substandard product. In addition to monetary damages, the lawsuit also demands that Burger King “correct the deceptive behavior.” Burger King did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Washington Post early Wednesday. In a statement  to CBS MoneyWatch , a spokesperson said: “Burger King does not comment o

Apple hints at its first dual-port USB-C power adapter

Image
Apple isn't exactly known for its cutting edge power adapters — it took ages for the company to embrace  gallium nitride  (for the current  MacBook Pro ), and it frequently stuck to basic 5W iPhone adapters while in-box chargers were still a thing. The company may be willing to explore 'new' territory, however.  9to5Mac  and  AppleInsider  report that Apple briefly posted a support document for a "35W Dual USB-C Port Power Adapter" on its website. While this glimpse didn't include visuals or many details, the accessory would support the USB Power Delivery fast charging standard. It's unclear whether the brick would use GaN or offer any special features. However, the 35W suggests this would be intended for mobile devices rather than Macs. You could fast-charge an  iPhone 13 Pro Max  (which supports up to 27W) while still leaving enough power for an  Apple Watch  or  AirPods . Multi-port chargers aren't exactly rare in the third-party market,

If any new evidence comes to light, the case will be reopened for further investigation." The allegations stemmed from an incident that occurred while Trey was celebrating his 37th birthday at a Las Vegas hotel back in November. An accuser claimed misconduct happened when Trey invited a group of women back to his room at The Cosmopolitan.  Trey's attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, reacted to the charges being dropped, stating, "We are pleased that Trey Songz' has been cleared of wrongdoing and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigation has officially been closed."  They added, "We are grateful to the LVMPD f

Will Smith Banned From Oscars for 10 Years for Slapping Chris Rock

Image
Will Smith has reportedly been banned from attending any Academy events for the next ten years.  The Academy’s Board of Governors met this past Friday to discuss how to approach the situation, which found  Will Smith slapping Chris Rock center stage during the Oscars live broadcast . The slap was reportedly a response from Smith that stemmed from a joke Rock made about Jada Pinkett-Smith.  In a letter addressing the matter, Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said, “for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.” They expressed gratitude to the hosts of the Oscars—Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock, and Amy Schumer, and then addressed Smith’s actions.  “This action we are taking today in response to Will Smith's behavior is a step toward a larger goal of protecting the safety of our performers and guests and re

Google is clamping down on out-of-date Android apps

Image
"Google has unveiled  new policies  for the Play Store that will effectively bar any existing Android Apps that are significantly out of date. All apps in the Store must target an API level within two years of the latest major Android release, or they won't be available for discovery or installation, it announced on its  Android Developer blog . The aim is to "protect users from installing older apps that may not have these protections in place," the company said. The changes will go into effect on November 1st, 2022. Currently, Google requires new apps and app updates to target an Android API level within just one year of the latest Android OS version release. The new changes, by contrast, target existing apps that may not have been updated in a while. Google notes that if you're running an older device, you'll "continue to be able to discover, re-install, and use the app on any device running any Android OS version that the app supports.&qu

Two Men Busted w/ 1,000 lbs of Meth & Coke Plus Enough Fentanyl to Kill 4.7M Peopl

Image
In one of the largest drug busts that Orange County has seen in over a decade and a half, two men have been arrested with what police have described as enough fentanyl to kill 4.7 million people.  According to reports, local authorities apprehended Edgar Alfonso Lamas (36) and Carlos Raygozaparedes (53), shortly after they pulled over their minivan and discovered that the men were in possession of 821 pounds of meth, nearly 190 pounds of cocaine along with 20.5 pounds of fentanyl pills. In wake of the DA's recent proclamation about responding harshly to drug trafficking cases, Lamas and Raygozaparedes may soon be facing murder changes given that narcotics such as fentanyl have been known to lead to substance abuse and death. But for now, if the perpetrators are convicted of the list of felony drug charges that they are currently facing, it could result in a prison sentence as long as 37 years and four months.  Lamas and Raygozaparedes remain in police custody on a $5 mi
