Ryan Reavis Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison For His Role in Mac Miller's Fatal Overdose
According to reports, one of the three-drug dealers responsible for the fentanyl overdose that took the late Mac Miller’s life was sentenced to about 11 years in prison on Monday.
Ryan Michael Reavis is said to have admitted to his role as the "middle man" in the drug deal that ultimately killed the celebrated "Self Care" rapper in a courtroom moments before his punishment was handed down by U.S. District Judge Otis D. Wright II. The defendant was hoping to only serve five years in prison because he contested that he was completely unaware that the pills he gave to Mac Miller were deadly. Nevertheless, an emotional statement from Mac Miller's mother, Karen Meyers, may have helped seal the 39-year-old's fate.
“My life went dark the moment Malcolm left his world,” Meyers’ statement read. “Malcolm was my person, more than a son. We had a bond and kinship that was deep and special and irreplaceable. We spoke nearly every day about everything – his life, plans, music, dreams […] He would never knowingly take a pill with fentanyl, ever. He wanted to live and was excited about the future. The hole in my heart will always be there.”
In addition to the 11-year prison bid, Reavis was given three additional years of supervised release with drug testing. As for the two other drug dealers involved, Andrew Walter (48) settled on a plea deal and accepted a 17-year sentence last year. Meanwhile, the case against the remaining co-defendant, Cameron James Pettit, is still pending.
