NY Lawmakers Considering Making Marijuana Legal
Will New York join the list of legal marijuana states?A recent report reveals that there is already a law in the works, but lawmakers are afraid that some will take advantage of it.According to The Daily Post, the law entitled ""Antonio G. Olivieri Controlled Substance Therapeutic Research Program" was brought about in 1980 because of an appeal from brain cancer patient Antonio Olivieri. The law would have made it legal for doctors to administer medicinal marijuana to patients. Oliveri died shortly after the appeal, and the law was never put into place.Today, the law remains on the books and many are pushing for New York to update and expand the law to make the drug legal. Recent states that have endorsed the legal marijuana law are Illinois, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. Source: NY Post |
