Rihanna Considered by NFL for Super Bowl Halftime Performance

We're only a few weeks away from the NFL opening game of the 2014 season, but the league already has their sights on the Super Bowl, and it's possible performers for the halftime show.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the NFL has named Rihanna, Katy Perry and Coldplay as the three front-runners for the headlining spot at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show.

Artists that are being considered for the high-profile gig will have to deal with a special twist from the NFL if they want to perform. For the first time ever the league is asking the artists to pay if they want to play during the half-time show.

NFL is asking artists "to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig."

At the time being it is unclear who will be chosen to headline the Super Bowl Halftime show, which will air on February 1, 2015.
