T-Mobile making moves - carrier will let iPhone 6 owners upgrade to the next iPhone for zilch, makes Apple Music streaming free

t looks like Apple and the USA's magenta-colored carrier have forged a beautiful friendship, as T-Mobile has "amped" its Music Freedom and upgraded its JUMP! On demand services with fantastic propositions for iPhone owners. First off, T-Mo added Apple Music to its list of 33 music services that stream for free over the carrier's data network. It's what customers want, apparently, as 80% of the music streaming service requests on Twitter spelled "Apple Music". Good listening on T-Mo's part! Before we cover the "so they're offering the iPhone 6s for free?!" part, we're going to paste this blurb by CEO John Legere, as we have to admit, the words here are strong:
Not surprisingly, Music Freedom has been an enormous hit with Un-carrier customers. They now stream over 131 million songs every single day – up an amazing 275% from a year ago when we launched Music Freedom. If AT&T customers streamed that much music, they could be paying upwards of $2.3 billion a year - and that’s not even factoring in overage penalties. The other guys tax and toll every single note of every song you stream. So 39% of US wireless users we asked said they avoid streaming on their phones−over half because they worry about shock overages. So, again, the carriers’ obsession with bigger profits comes at the expense of their customers. Which is just plain stupid. Because we’ve shown the carriers a better way. They’re just too shortsighted to see it.
Now, one more thing. Not long ago, T-Mobile offered the iPhone 6 16GB for $15 a month with an older device trade-in, which is a pretty good deal nomatter how you look at it. But, knowing that customers may be holding off of buying an iPhone 6 with the impending iPhone 6s announcement in mind, team Magenta now lets customers who buy a new iPhone 6 this summer, as well as current customers on the $15 monthly plan, simply exchange it for the next iPhone if they upgrade before the end of 2015. In Legere's words, "Just swap it out and pay NOTHING more—nothing up front and no change to your monthly payment. No deposit. No fees. Nothing. You get the next iPhone guaranteed. And you get to LOCK IN that industry-best promotional price of $15 a month."
Gets you all pumped up, doesn't it? But that's not all there's to it. Everyone who gets a new iPhone 6 with JUMP! On Demand will be treated to priority access over the next iPhone. During the first 48 hours of availability, said customers will get their orders prioritized and shipped first, which means they will be among the first to get the new Apple flagship.
T-Mobile doesn't seem to give other carriers a break, even in the leisury summer season. It will be interesting to see how the other guys counter this move.
