NYPD Sergeant Accused of Raping 15-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide

NYPD sergeant Joel Doseau, committed suicide by asphyxiating himself with a bag amid claims that he raped a 15-year-old girl. The 43-year-old sergeant killed himself at his parent's Canarsie, Brooklyn home after being freed on $100,000 bond from his August 5 arrest. 

A 40-count indictment revealed that Doseau had an ongoing sexual relationship with the 15-year-old, who is now a woman in her early 20s. According to the NY Daily News, the girl sent Doseau nude photographs after he lied to her about being more than twice her age. 

Court papers reveal that the two engaged in sexual intercourse several times, which included oral sex that was initiated "without such person's consent."
