Dwyane Wade Takes $23 Million Option With Chicago for His 15th Season
Dwyane Wade is entering the final year of his contract with the Chicago Bulls, and now the 35-year-old is being rewarded handsomely for it. Wade has a player option with the Bulls that will pay out $23.8 million for the 2017-2018 season. According to ESPN, personnel from the team have been saying for the last several months that Wade would accept the option because it would be unlikely that he'd receive that much money as a free agent.
Wade was asked about the thought process behind his decision, to which he responded: "24 million reasons." The next issue to resolve for the Bulls lies with Jimmy Butler, who many teams are looking to go after. The Cleveland Cavaliers already made it clear they wanted Butler, but the player said he is hoping to stay in Chicago and that is hesitant to commit to a future in Ohio.
