Las Vegas Shooter Possibly Cased Festival Featuring Chance the Rapper
As the investigation into Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock's motive and plans have progressed, authorities have gotten a clearer picture of his capacity to commit more frequent and greater acts of terror. Officials are reporting that there appears to be evidence indicating that the deceased 64-year-old had an escape plan in addition to the additional stockpile of weapons and explosives in his car and in his Mesquite home. There is also word that Paddock was scoping out at least one concert event prior to his attack on the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
The Daily Beast first reported on the findings of investigators who say that Paddock had rented out a number of condos at The Ogden complex in the city's downtown area less than one month ago. The site reportedly overlooks the space reserved to host the outdoor Life is Beautiful Festival between Sept. 22 and Sept. 24. Included on the festival's billing were such artists as Blink 182, Muse, Gorillaz, Lorde, and Chance the Rapper.
Authorities are not divulging any more details on the report, and the Life is Beautiful Festival has referred all inquiries into the report back to officials. However, the festival's organizers have released a statement on the killing of 58 and wounding of hundreds outside of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino this past weekend.
"Life is Beautiful is founded in the beliefs of community and our collective love for each other and the arts as well as making the world a more beautiful and loving place. In the wake of this tragedy, we gather strength from these ideals and urge everyone to come together as a community, support and love one another. We will overcome the hate and the divisiveness together. We will lean on each other to move forward and to create a world in which love is the only option," the response reads.
