NFL Fines Former Carolina Panthers Owner $2.75M for Racial Misconduct

Former Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson was reportedly fined $2.75 million by the NFL after they conducted an investigation into claims of racial and sexual misconduct in the workplace.

The investigation was conducted by former U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White, and it was noted the misconduct was only limited to Richardson. Along with that, the Panthers ownership failed to inform the proper channels of the allegations or come forward with any type of resolution for the issues.

This comes after Richardson sold the Panthers this past December after a Sports Illustrated report surfaced saying he made sexually suggestive comments to multiple women and also fired off a racial slur at an African-American scout for the Panthers.

The NFL noted the money from the fine will be placed towards organizations that tackle gender and racial issues in and out of the workplace.
