4 High School Football Players Indicted for Raping Freshman with Broomstick

Four Maryland high schoolers are in deep legal trouble after they were indicted on rape charges stemming from a hazing incident gone awry. The four suspects of Damascus High School, Jean Claude Abedi, Kristian Lee, Will Smith, and Caleb Thorpe, were arrested over the Thanksgiving holiday for attacking some of their JV teammates. During the attack, one of the 14-year-old JV players was held down before one of the boys shoved a broomstick into his anal cavity. 

State Attorney for Montgomery County John McCarthy warned against calling this a hazing incident, however. He told reporters, "I would caution anyone to refer to this as hazing, [...] These boys were victims of criminal acts. They were not victims of hazing. They were victims of first-degree rapes and attempted rapes. These were crimes."
