White House Promises Tax Refunds Will Be Paid During the Shutdown
According to reports, the IRS will be paying out tax refunds despite the federal government shutdown.
The decision surfaced this past Monday after many Americans were worried about the possible delay in returns. The director of the White House Office of Management and Budget—Russell Vought said the Trump administration is looking to make the government shutdown as “painless as possible consistent with the law.”
Yahoo noted that since the shutdown took place on December 22, 2018, the IRS has been understaffed. Vice President Mike Pence issued a statement, saying “We’re going to continue to take steps like that to mitigate the impact.”
