Former Ravens Player Lorenzo Taliaferro Dead at 28
The Baltimore Ravens revealed on Thursday (December 17) that former fullback Lorenzo Taliaferro has passed away at 28. Taliaferro was picked to join the Ravens in the fourth round of the NFL draft. He played three seasons for the team, scoring five touchdowns and rushing a total of 339 yards.
Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh released a statement on the team's Twitter page, which reads: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Lorenzo Taliaferro. Lorenzo was a kind, smart, respectful, and determined young man- someone always committed to their teammates and well-liked by everyone in our organization. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Lorenzo's family. May he rest in peace."
The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office tweeted the news that Taliaferro had died late Wednesday night. They stated that they weren't able to reveal medical information, but the report states, "Earlier today, December 16, 2020, at approximately 3:07 pm Deputies were dispatched to the 100 Block of Windsor Lane for a call of someone needing medical attention. Medics also arrived and transported the patient to a local hospital where he later passed away."
A family member confirmed the cause of death as a heart attack to Baltimore station WBFF-TV's Sports Director Bruce Cunningham.
