Brazilian butt lifts have become the fastest-growing plastic surgery, according to 2015 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. From 2000 to 2015, butt lift procedures rose 252 percent.
However, the procedure can be hazardous if done improperly. One of the primary risks is fat embolism, which is when fat enters the bloodstream and blocks a blood vessel. The estimated death rate for butt lift surgery is 1 in 3000.
