Texas Mayor Resigns After Telling Freezing Residents 'Quit Crying
Tim Boyd, now the former mayor of Colorado City, TX, made headlines after a lengthy Facebook bad-mouthed the residents of his city during the statewide power and heat outages.
Boyd's resignation came just hours after the insensitive Facebook post where he told Colorado City residents, "no one owes you or your family anything," and "the city and county, along with power providers or any other services, owes you NOTHING!" He added that he's "sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout."
For a bit of context, large areas across Texas have been without power as the state goes through a once-in-a-generation snowstorm that has already claimed the lives of at least 5 people.
"Bottom line, quit crying and looking for a handout! Get off your a** and take care of your own family!"
However, Boyd later apologized for the lengthy Facebook rant, saying, "I would never want to hurt the elderly or anyone that is in true need of help to be left to fend for themselves."
