Blake Griffin Says He Was Trashed for 2 Years, Now It's 'Not Fair' He's in Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets have officially become the league's most polarizing franchise after their 2020-21 transactions. Beginning with the deal that landed James Harden, the Nets front office has since acquired Blake Griffin, and most recently, LaMarcus Aldridge.

Many have called out the Nets for stacking the deck by essentially creating an arms race between them and the Lakers. But Blake Griffin recently pointed out how not too long ago he was considered washed up. Now that he's a member of the Nets, those criticisms come from the opposite side of the argument.

"It's kind of funny to me, because for the last couple years, all I've heard is how bad I am," said Griffin. "You sign with this team, and everybody's like, 'That's not fair!'"

"It's just kind of crazy how it all comes together," he continued. "In the beginning of the season, if you'd said that James and LaMarcus and I would end up with the Nets -- everybody's betting against that."

However, Griffin isn't taking the Nets talent for granted. "We still have to prove ourselves," he said, adding, "Sometimes, it doesn't work out. We realize that. We know we have work to do and we know we have to be great."
