HBCUs Will Now Require Students to Be Vaccinated Before Return in Fall 2021

According to reports, Historical Black Colleges and Universities in Atlanta are now requiring that students get a vaccination shot before returning to classes in Fall 2021.

Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Spelman College released a joint statement noting that proof of vaccinations is required in order to come back in the Fall.

The statement said, “As AUCC member institutions plan for summer programming and the fall semester, using the latest scientific data to implement vaccination protocols is the next step in keeping our community safe. Vaccination of our community members is critical to continue meeting our highest priority—maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our constituents.”

Emory College reportedly announced they would also require students be vaccinated before attending in the Fall. Emory noted the university would have a supply available for students who aren’t able to get vaccinated before coming to campus grounds. The university said students could apply for an exemption “based on medical conditions or strong personal objections.” Stay tuned for more updates.
