Bobby Portis Suspended For Breaking Nikola Mirotic's Face

Image
It looks like NBA Nikola Mirotic won't be in the revamped Chicago Bulls picture for a little while, as the projected starting power forward has suffered an unexpected injury at the hands of his backup at the position, Bobby Portis. In turn, neither will the team be with Portis for some games, as Mirotic was hospitalized and Portis suspended following a physical altercation that took place between the two on Tuesday, October 17. According to teammates and coaches, Portis and Mirotic got into a heated back and forth that eventually escalated and spun out of control. Portis threw a punch that connected with Mirotic's face and left him with a concussion and facial fractures. An evaluation of Mirotic's injuries has prompted team officials to gauge that he will be out four to six weeks. Portis has been handed down an eight-game suspension for the senseless act, which team witnesses say they both played a hand in building up to but was nonetheless unwarranted by Portis. "Bo

Northern Michigan University Offering Cannabis Studies Degree

As the legalization of marijuana continues to be a policy trend on the rise, the business world has steadily hashed new methods to cash in on the newest cash crop. Over the last few years, we have gradually seen several states legalize recreational marijuana, the most recent example been Las Vegas. Upon legalizing the popular plant, Sin City saw an enormous boost in revenue immediately, With the city actually running out temporarily. As the marijuana business continues to grow, the business world grows and with that the education necessary to grow a successful business. Many universities, such as Harvard, University of Denver, Vanderbilt University and Ohio State University, have already begun to offer a variety of classes on marijuana policy and law. Despite what one may think, these classes are far from easy with courses ranging anywhere from horticulture to biochemistry and organic chemistry. The idea for a four-year program at Northern Michigan University came about when an associ

Sprint and T-Mobile aim to merge without giving up any assets

Image
With Sprint majority owner SoftBank reportedly making the decision to move forward on a merger with T-Mobile, Reuters learned from confidential sources that both carriers plan on completing the transaction without selling any assets. That is important as far as the deal goes because part of the attraction for T-Mobile is combining its low-frequency spectrum in the 600MHz-700MHz band, with Sprint's huge inventory of high-frequency 2.5GHz spectrum. This combination could help the newly merged company when time comes to build out their 5G pipeline. Today's report also claims that both T-Mobile and Sprint are working together to come up with a negotiating strategy in case U.S. regulatory agencies like the DOJ request the divestiture of assets. If the deal does go through, the new company would have approximately 131 million subscribers. At the end of the second quarter, AT&T had 136.5 million customers with Verizon's 147.2 million subscribers putting Big Red on top. Speak

Tom Brady Becomes All Time NFL Wins Leader

Image
The 2017 New York Jets continued to surprise fans when after registering the first two scores of their matchup against the New England Patriots, they found themselves leading by a score of 14-0 heading into the midway mark. This was the team that was left for dead and had many football analysts predicting they'd be the punching bag of the AFC, weeks before they marched into MetLife Stadium tied for first place in the division on Sunday, October 15. But lest they had forgotten, they were playing a winner in Tom Brady, who happened to be going for the all-time regular season wins record, at that. A reality check was in store. Within minutes Brady led a series of drives that tied them up at the half, and then he put the defending champs ahead with a shot downfield to Rob Gronkowski in the 3rd Quarter. The Patriots would never look back, and neither would Brady, who was headed into the history books as the game's winningest quarterback, on 20 completions, 257 yards and two touchdo

Kaepernick Files Collusion Grievance Against Owners of the NFL

Image
Colin Kaepernick is taking the NFL to court. It was reported on Sunday, October 15, that the star quarterback-turned-activist has filed a grievance that accuses the league's team owners of collusion under its collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association. After news broke about the move it was confirmed that he has foregone representation under the Players Association and hired high powered attorney Mark Geragos (who has defended the likes of Michael Jackson and Chris Brown) to argue his case. Each of the NFL's 32 teams has been sent a copy of the court document, as has the NFLPA. The complaint charges that owners and executives around the NFL "have colluded to deprive Mr. Kaepernick of employment rights in retaliation for Mr. Kaepernick's leadership and advocacy for equality and social justice and his bringing awareness to peculiar institutions still undermining racial equality in the United States." Geragos has called for an arbitration heari

Six Transgender Women Arrested in Bizarre Newark Prostitution Ring

Image
Earlier this week (Oct.8), Newark, NJ police made six arrests for prostitution and soliciting. The arrests were made after several complaints came from the following areas: Mulberry Street, Scott Street, Orchard Street and Camp Street. In response to the quality of life complaints made by residents, detectives conducted an investigation which led to the multiple arrests. The individuals who were charged and arrested are Remones McDaniel, 29; Dorell Korngay,19; DeShawn Washington, 26; Zayquan R. Twitty, 20; and Yusef Husdon, 26. Out-of-town resident Derrick Benson, 25, of Hamburg was also charged along with the other five individuals. “These arrests are due to the public’s involvement in alerting us to criminal activity occurring in their neighborhoods,” said Newark Public Saftey Director Anthony Ambrose. “Our partnership with our citizens is one of our greatest assets. We will continue to respond to and answer citizen complaints while enforcing the law.” Over the summer, 10 women in

T-Mobile to cover Netflix's price increase for its "Netflix On Us" giveaway

Image
Netflix announced last week that it was going to be raising the price of its standard plan that allows subscribers to use the service on two screens at a time. Starting sometime in November, the price for that tier of service will go up 10% from $9.99 a month to $10.99 a month. This happens to be the tier of service that T-Mobile is giving away free to subscribers of its T-Mobile One plan paying for at least two lines. Now that Netflix is raising the price for its standard plan by $1 a month, does this mean that you'll have to pay T-Mobile $1 every 30 days to cover the price hike? The answer is a resounding "No!" After all, the Un-carrier is supposed to be curing customer pain points, not creating them. So if you do qualify for the free "Netflix On Us," you will still be able to binge watch shows like Wentworth or Schitt$ Creek all on T-Mobile's dime. To reiterate, the Netflix standard plan that T-Mobile covers includes streaming over two screens at one ti

Judge Mathis Says Jemele Hill Could Sue ESPN and Win

Image
Much of the debate around athletes and sports anchors being fired over controversial comments and the right of free speech has been sparked after Jemele Hill was suspended from ESPN. As it would concern Cowboys owner Jerry Jones requiring his players to stand during the National Anthem, or ESPN's recent suspension of Jemele Hill of remarks she made on social media, for example; those in favor of Hill and the players cite their First Amendment right to free speech. For those who've taken up issue with Hill or the players using their professional venue to spout social/political views, on the other hand, the owners have every right to protect their brand and bottom line. The way former Detroit district court judge Joe Mathis sees it, a citizen's Constitutional rights will always win in the court. But the question is whether that citizen wants to take it there, with all of the risks fighting to protect your speech, can ironically come with, in the land of opportunity. "I

Autopsy Report Rules Kenneka Jenkins Died of Hypothermia

Image
Kenneka Jenkins, a young Chicago woman, whose body was found in a hotel's walk-in freezer last month has died accidentally, a coroner ruled. Her cause of death was hypothermia and "cold exposure in a walk-in freezer" as well as "ethanol and topiramate intoxication," the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said. Jenkins, 19, was last seen early Saturday, September 9, at a party at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel. Her family reported her missing later that day, and Jenkins' body was found in the freezer at the hotel shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, September 10. Surveillance videos released by police days later show Jenkins, alone, wandering through a kitchen area near the freezer. The medical examiner said an autopsy found stomach lesions indicative of hypothermia, an abrasion on Jenkins' right ankle and a bruise on her right leg. "There was no other evidence of external or internal trauma," the office said. A spokesman for t

Video Of Miami Dolphins Coach Sniffing Coke Leaked by Ex-Girlfriend

Video of #MiamiDolphins offensive line coach Chris Foerster snorting coke A post shared by Nyoufacetv (@nyourfacetv) on Oct 9, 2017 at 8:44am PDT While the NFL is trying to tackle all the issues with teams protesting the National anthem, an ex-girlfriend of Miami Dolphins offensive line coach Chris Foerster has released a video of him snorting cocaine through a 20 dollar bill. Kijuana Nige, a Las Vegas-based model, posted the video late Sunday on Facebook which appears to take place in Dolphins offices before a team meeting, according to the Miami New Times. She captioned the video: "I don't really do this often... but it's NFL Sunday let's talk about this coaches folks. Introducing Chris Foerster Miami Dolphins Offensive line coach... Hey honey are you still high?" Chris has been married since 2010, and it is still unclear if the video was recorded while he was married or not. “Hey babe, miss you, thinking about you,” Chris says in the video. “How abo

Harvey Weinstein Fired by His Own Company After Sexual Assault Claims

Image
On Sunday, Harvey Weinstein was fired from his film studio, The Weinstein Company, after being accused of decades of sexual misconduct in a New York Times report, according to Variety. “In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company — Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar — have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the Weinstein Company said in a statement. On Friday, the company announced that Weinstein would be taking a leave of absence while they conducted an internal investigation. The company said it had hired an independent law firm to conduct an internal investigation into the accusations against Weinstein’s sexual harassment. The company will be under the leadership of Weinstein’s brother and the company’s co-chairman, Bob, as well as its Chief Operati

T-Mobile and Sprint merger could happen as early as this month

Image
Indeed, talks of a T-Mobile and Spring merger are nothing new; after all, we’ve seen similar reports back in 2015 and then again in 2016. It’s 2017 now, and all this merger talk hasn’t really subsided. Beginning in May, we started seeing new reports of a potential merger, and according to people who are familiar with the matter, the two carriers might seal the deal as early as by the end of October. Of course, it’s not guaranteed that the merger will be approved by market regulators, but both parties seem determined to see it go through. That’s because the landscape of the US telecommunications market has changed drastically in the past few years: T-Mobile managed to significantly expand its network and customer base with its Un-carrier initiatives while Sprint had to relinquish its spot as the nation’s third largest carrier. T-Mobile now wants to leapfrog AT&T and Verizon, and Sprint is struggling to cope with its financial loss, and the merger, loosely-speaking, could be a win-w

21-Year-Old Nelly Rape Accuser Says He Didn't Use Condom, Told Her to Shut Up

Image
The woman who claims Nelly raped her says she had been partying with the rapper before he forced her to have sex without a condom, but Nelly's lawyer claims she is a liar and plans to let the truth come to light. Sources say that the 21-year-old Seattle resident met Nelly at a club in Washington, where she and her friends consumed several drinks at his table and supposedly got "tipsy." According to her, she was invited to an after-party and was driven off with some members of the rapper's posse. In the end, she ended up on his tour bus, where she says she was in Nelly's room with him when he tried to force the issue sexually. She turned him down, after which time he told her to "shut up" and allegedly said he wanted to have sex with her without using a condom, something he did despite her repeatedly telling him to stop. Apparently after the incident, Nelly offered her money, which she declined. Another woman then kicked her off the bus and threw $100

Dannon Got Dak Prescott to Replace Cam Newton After Sexist Comment

Image
There isn't a player in the NFL who has racked up more endorsement deals than Dak Prescott has this year, and last Thursday, October 5 he claimed another when yogurt company Dannon picked him up to represent its Oikos brand, it was reported over the weekend. If the timing of the Prescott signing appears curious, considering Dannon just recently made headlines over its decision to split ways with ambassador Cam Newton, that's because Thursday was the exact day the announcement concerning Newton was made. Newton invited a media firestorm when during a postgame interview, following Week 4 action, he confessed that he found a question about "routes" coming from a woman to be humorous. Within 24-hours of the Carolina Panthers QB making the remark, Dannon stated to the press in which a company spokesperson expressed shock and declared that he'd no longer be working on their behalf. Despite the severance, the company did state that it would honor the rest of its contrac

Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones To Players: Disrespect the Flag and You Won't Play

Image
Heading into the weekend former New York Daily News senior justice writer Shaun King reported that players on two respective teams had disclosed to him that franchise executives were making it policy that they stand for the National Anthem. By Sunday, October 8, the owner of at least one team informally announced his plan to enforce a kneeling ban. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is known to have a good friendship with President Trump. In fact, before the Cowboys' nationally televised Monday Night Football game that followed backlash over the President's call for owners to fire players who kneel, Trump reportedly called Jones several times begging the team not to protest. Jones and the Cowboys demonstrated anyway; kneeling prior to the anthem, and then standing for the song. Now it appears Jones has had a change of heart. "If there's anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play. You understand? If we are disrespecting the flag, then we won't

Las Vegas Killer's Girlfriend Says There Were Signs Of Mental Illness

Image
More news continues to unfold in the Las Vegas terrorist attack, as details of the shooter’s life and mental state are coming out. According to the terrorist’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, Stephen Paddock had signs of mental illness. One former FBI official was briefed on the situation and said what Danley told the authorities, "She said he would lie in bed, just moaning and screaming 'Oh my god.'" Another official said Danley told them that Paddock was displaying “mental health symptoms.” Two FBI officials on the case noted that they did not have a clear motive for Paddock shooting and killing 60 people. They also do not think the terrorist’s mental health was broken down to the point where he would carry out shooting and killing so many people. Police officials did point out that Paddock was prescribed Valium, an anti-anxiety medication. Other investigators on the case said that Paddock may have been in mental anguish or physical pain as well. Currently, six media

AOL Will Shut Down AIM in December, After 20 Years

Image
“We’ve made the decision that we will be discontinuing AIM effective December 15, 2017,” said a rep for the company. AOL said the cancellation of AIM was influenced by the advancement of technology. “AIM tapped into new digital technologies and ignited a cultural shift, but the way in which we communicate with each other has profoundly changed,” they wrote. Some of these advancements or changes include text messaging and social media. AIM and AOL functioned as early forms of social media complete with profiles describing oneself and chatrooms that were used to have conversations with large groups of people. AIM evolved once the mobile technology became more advanced. With the introduction of the Motorola Sidekick, AIM took on a new life and allowed people to use the app on the go which was once confined to their home computers. Pulling the plug on the software seems like a likely end scenario since text messaging has become standard practice and more affordable. It’s eliminated the nee

Producer Harvey Weinstein Accused of Nearly 30 Years of Sexual Misconduct

Image
The New York Times broke a story on Thursday, October 5, of Hollywood super-producer Harvey Weinstein being accused of nearly 30 years of sexual misconduct. According to the report, several women came forward about instances of Weinstein allegedly performing acts of sexual misconduct. One of the women to come forward was actress Ashley Judd, who said Weinstein invited her to Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel almost 20 years ago for what she thought was going to be a business meeting. Judd said Weinstein invited her up to his room for the meeting, for which he arrived in a robe. She then said that he asked if she wanted to give him a massage and he also allegedly asked Judd if she wanted to watch him shower. Judd remembered asking herself, "How do I get out of the room as fast as possible without alienating Harvey Weinstein?" Ashley told the story to Variety in 2015, but didn't reveal Weinstein's identity. She opened up by saying, "I was sexually harassed by one of

Cam Newton has been catching major flak after he told Charlotte Observer reporter Jourdan Rodrigue, he found it "funny to hear a female talk about routes" during a recent press conference. Since the comments, Dannon has ended their relationship with Newton. However, now it appears Newton has issued an apology on the matter, calling his remarks "extremely unacceptable." On Thursday, October 5, Newton took to Twitter releasing a video apology. "After careful thought, I understand that my word choice was extremely disrespectful and degrading to women. And to be honest, that was not my intentions," Newton said. "And if you are a person who took offense to what I said, I sincerely apologize to you." He went on to say that th

McDonald's Manager Sold Cocaine With Burgers

Image
The NYPD made a bust on a McDonald's manager they had been investigating for selling cocaine out of one of the fast food joint's Bronx locations, on Wednesday, October 4. Frank Guerrero, 26, had been serving burgers and fries at the Mickey D's nearby Morrison Ave., on Bruckner Blvd. for eight years when authorities were tipped off about the hustle and began tracking his night-shift activity. Detectives went as far as to place orders on more than one occasion and were served the substance in cookie baggies neatly placed alongside food in a McDonald's take-out bag. He'd also make hand-to-hand sales in the establishment's restroom, where he kept the contraband in the soap dispenser. One particular sale reportedly involved an exchange of 100 grams for over $6,000. With each visit, the investigators conducting the sting stepped up their orders to "increasingly larger quantities," until they had purchased close to $10,900 worth. Finally, the NYPD along wit

Kobe Bryant Says He'd Kneel During National Anthem If He Wasn't Retired

Image
Kobe Bryant was asked what he would do before a game if he was still playing in the league today and the retired NBA legend made it clear that he would join in the protests. In light of the current political statements being made in the sports world, Bryant was asked on The Hollywood Reporter's 'Awards Chatter' podcast what position he would take. "Kneel," Bryant said assuredly. More than 250 NFL players controversially knelt during the national anthem joining in the peaceful protests against racism, oppression, and police brutality against black people, a movement started by Colin Kaepernick last year. A few players joined Kaepernick when he initially started the protest, but much more took part after President Donald Trump called them "son of b**ches" and called for their firing at an Alabama rally in September. Bryant also answered a question about what he would say to Trump, saying he'd tell him to "focus on serving, not leading."

Woman Claims Lil Wayne is the Father of Her 15-Year-Old Son That He's Never Met

Image
Throughout his 20+ year career, Lil Wayne has never been shy about loving the ladies. Now, the father of four allegedly has a 15-year old son, according to a woman who claims she hooked up with the rapper in 2001. Per TMZ, legal documents claim that Keiotia Watson, the mother of the 15-year old boy named “Dwayne”, after Lil Wayne’s government name, allegedly had sex with the rapper back in 2001 and got pregnant. The boy was conceived in February 2002. In 2015, Watson filed a case for child support and paternity in Louisiana. A judge ruled in her favor, stating that Wayne would have to pay Watson $5,000 a month, but she hasn't received any money so far. TMZ reported that the “A Milli” rapper has not paid her because, according to their sources, he was not served any legal papers regarding Dwayne’s child support or has was ever formally notified that he was the father. Lil Wayne will reportedly take a paternity test, and he claims that he will take full responsibility and will pa

Las Vegas Shooter Possibly Cased Festival Featuring Chance the Rapper

Image
As the investigation into Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock's motive and plans have progressed, authorities have gotten a clearer picture of his capacity to commit more frequent and greater acts of terror. Officials are reporting that there appears to be evidence indicating that the deceased 64-year-old had an escape plan in addition to the additional stockpile of weapons and explosives in his car and in his Mesquite home. There is also word that Paddock was scoping out at least one concert event prior to his attack on the Route 91 Harvest Festival. The Daily Beast first reported on the findings of investigators who say that Paddock had rented out a number of condos at The Ogden complex in the city's downtown area less than one month ago. The site reportedly overlooks the space reserved to host the outdoor Life is Beautiful Festival between Sept. 22 and Sept. 24. Included on the festival's billing were such artists as Blink 182, Muse, Gorillaz, Lorde, and Chance the Rapper
